this is what i'm thinking. not okay to tamper with food i can respect someones "food habit" if they refuse to eat stuff such as meat or pork because of someones religion or view.

at times i do like to eat pasta/sauce without meat once in a while.

This is only incredibly disrespectful but can potentially make someone very sick. You don't know why their diet is what it is. A legal response is more than justified for any kind of food tampering.

I'd say humiliating a friend and sharing the video over the internet is probably worse than the prank itself (which is already bad).

She's totally justified. They tricked her into breaking a lifelong commitment, and tried to damage her representation on social media. That is not "just a prank," and most of you are severely understating how terrible of an action that was. I feel like everyone saying she overreacted just hate vegans in general.

And since TC wants an actual dumb AitA post, there was a post a month or so back where the poster brought their kid while looking at a house and the kid broke something expensive. She (the poster) immediately grabbed the kid and ran, only to later find out that the seller wanted to charge her for what her kid broke. Then she makes an AitA post with her justification being that "the home should have been kid-proofed why should I have to pay I didn't do anything wrong"

I stumbled across that on the front page since I'm not subbed to it and after reading that I'm glad I'm not

The dumbest part is the number of people in the comments saying she's not the a****** and saying this is a reasonable thing to do. A few people have some sense in their head and they're being hit with rebuttals of, "WELL WHAT IF SOMEONE KILLED YOUR PET AND TRICKED YOU INTO EATING IT?!"

That sub is filled with fucking idiots honestly. You just feel the lack of life experience and social situations in their judgements.

I struggle with this one. It borders on abuse of laws meant to protect people from being poisoned or drugged or forced to violate religious beliefs. On the other hand, I would could allergic reactions or food poisoning as qualifying for that, and people who haven't eaten meat in a very long time can get sick from suddenly eating a lot of it; she doesn't mention that happening here, but there was a risk, and her friends knew she was vegan, so their behavior was reckless.

And her friends are severe dicks, make no mistake about that. There was nothing "harmless" about this "prank". I have zero objection to any other part of her reaction, including ending the friendships and publicly outing them as being the kind of people who would pull this kind of crap. Even at the absolute worst for her, this is EAA, not YTA, and it's arguably not even that. Even my objection to pressing charges is only halfhearted.

Halfhearted is still nonzero. This is still coming across as an angry entitled vegan who happens to have them dead to rights. But she does have them dead to rights, and that's worth acknowledging.
