The thought of my parents age, in the middle of the night no less.

This has never happened before, last time I made an conscious note on this was when I was face camming my dad and noticed he is a lot older than I had expected.

Yeah I get that sometimes too. I'm 30 and my mother is 75. The closer you get to the impending fact they won't be around forever is really depressing.

My mom said that when her parents (my grandparents) both died, she felt like an orphan, even though she was like 50 when it happened >_>

My parents are in their 60s now and it's a weird thought

Uh, you took that completely wrong. I literally talked about blessings immediately after. I can guarantee TC knew how to take my intention

TC says he cried in the middle of the night about the thought of his parents getting old. "That's life" isn't exactly a comforting response lol.

I'm expecting to get super depressed if my parents die before me, and I feel like the same will happen to them if I die first.

We've become very dependant upon each other between our health issues and their age.

But my intention was obvious when I said it was a blessing she was still alive. It was a "look on the bright side" comment. Not everyone gets to keep their mom this long

It's cool if it came off wrong but not accepting me explaining myself after is a different story.

Ahright fair enough then, sorry I jumped to conclusions. I originally interpreted it as like when someone dies, and someone goes "Hey we're all gonna die, that's life." rather than actually offer something comforting to them. Way you're explaining it, wasn't really that edgy then. Sorry about that.

those realizations are eye opening.

the worst is when you get to the point where you are taking care of the parents and are more mature and responsible than they are and your roles have switched.

I have these thoughts sometimes too. Except, my mom had me in her early 20's, so I had the luxury of watching her slowly start showing traits that she's getting up there in age. She's fine overall, but it's kind of depressing sometimes.

My dad died last November. I'd tried to prepare myself mentally for it beforehand because he was never in the greatest of health, but you're still never really ready for it when it does happen.

I'm 32 and my parents are in their 70s. Thought they'd both live to their 80s. Lost my dad this year outta nowhere at 74 from a heart attack, otherwise, he was perfectly healthy.

So yeah, I feel ya man.

It's all good. For the record, Im also terrified of this. I am just really good at selective ignorance.

A few months ago, I looked at my mom and all of a sudden everything I didn't notice in the last 10 years about her appearance hit me like a ton of bricks. It felt really concerning but I quickly clicked back to my self induced ignorance. I definitely relate, I just don't want to cause it's scary. I try to just be thankful she's still here babying me like she likes to.

My dad's 67, I feel like hes got 10 really good years left a nd probably another 5 good left.

That leaves only 15 years give or take. That's fucking depressing as fuck.

I lost my mom when she was 59.

Visited my parents in another province last week. Both in their 60s, father retired.

Judging by this topic, you're not alone. It's something to prepare ourselves for.

My dad has his first heart attack a year ago. Ever since, hes really started showing his age. Whitening hair. Facial skin more loose. Starting to look like old pics of my grandpa.

Hes got stints in his arteries now to keep things flowing, but we have cardiac issues in the family and a history of males checking out in the early 60s because of them. So its made me really wary that he might not be around much longer. We lost my grandpa to a cerebral hemorrhage at 62. My dad is 56 and I just turned 30.

Make memories. He was helping me work on my truck yesterday and so I took him out to eat after and we talked about cars and stuff. Felt real nice cuz we dont get time enough to do this often.

My moms side all live far into the 80s and so Im less worried about her. Shes like 53 and in really good health. Of course I know never to take that for granted, but my dad seemed to age a decade over night and so yeah. I get the fear
