Which did you choose? Also, which which weapons did you choose for Veronica and Serena? For Erik, I'm going with knives.

iirc, greatswords are better for most of the game (maybe all of it). Erik with knives is good. Serena with staves and Veronica with wands, tho you get enough ap(?) to get most if not all the skills for most characters.

How good is the whip?

The best weapon is a sword so keep that in mind. Otherwise in normal difficulty it makes no difference.

I used swords for hero. And daggers for my beloved Erik. Erik is so OP omfg

I used greatswords and boomerangs for the first half of the game. I re-specced to swords/daggers near the end of the main game or beginning of the epilogue due to having enough points for the top skills, having some sweet-ass weapons and to change things up.

Greatswords are better for a good amount of the game but you eventually want to break into swords because your ultimate weapon is one handed

For most mp recovery and aoe, sword and board. If you want pure single target damage, Greatsword. Dual wielding is pretty much useless unless it is Erik who gets the skill to make it useful.

doesn't matter, you can respec whenever you want, as many times as you want

My 2 one Hand swords for late game wth 2 light swords for act 3

jade best is pole arm but I had her start feet part of the tree.

Hero -> Greatsword (idk if swords become good late game)
Erik -> Knives (Swords and Boomerangs become viable alternatives late game I heard)
Veronica -> Heavy Wand
Serena -> Wand + Shield/Spears if youre metal hunting (Thunder Thrust for crit kills)
Sylvando -> Knife + Shield (he gets Nastier Knives from the start unlike Erik, so as a support he can easily sleep or envenom enemies for Erik to follow up on, or just to support the party in general)
Jade -> Spears
Rab -> Heavy Wand
Hendrik -> Axe + Shield

I've heard boomerangs have the lowest damage, but they're great because they can attack groups of enemies.

Respec is nearly at-will anyway. Just use whatever seems best at the time.

Nope. The tiny little extra hit of damage from dual wielding isn't worth it.

They also buffed the hit rate on them slightly from the PS4 version from what I have heard

Tips for Slayer of the Sands, anyone?

Greatsword is definitely better just for pure DPS. Sword is too situational with all the different slash abilities.

Though when I finally get the ultimate sword at the end of the game, I'll just spend the 2k coins or whatever to respec into swords

Serenas blind spell Ive found to be useful the entire game. It never really falls off against those physical hard hitters.

What level were when you defeated said boss? I'd imagine I'm going to have a rough time given I have stronger enemies enabled.

I dont remember, but I was also on stronger monsters.

He was pretty easy for me actually with Dazzle, but people also said he was nerfed in this version.

You do realize that the extra hit from dual wielding is just a weaker regular hit right? With two falcon blades you will only hit 3 times, unless they changed it for the switch version.

Apparently so.
Two big hits, two not-so-big hits.

the issue with dual wielding is that the second sword will pretty much always do piddly damage, unless it happens to crit. like assuming you use dragon slash on a dragon type enemy while dual wielding, only the first attack will get the increased modifier against that enemy type, the second strike will just be 0.5x of a normal attack

two falcon blades while pepped up and with a lot of the crit rate is pretty nice, at least for metal slimes

Erik gets Dually Deadly which removes the offhand penalty

So having 2 weapons with Divide is very worth for him, especially if you can get his crit rate up
