Any of the southern ones because of the heat but overall putting weather aside: Maybe Wyoming. Or Arizona still.

You can call Florida a meme state all you want and the drivers are bad (which is worse because of all the people here) but I've met plenty lovely people here and we're transparent.

Probably Ohio, since it has much of Illinois's weather but without Illinois's attractions.

Ranking them in general:

I've lived there and would be fine going back:
Florida
New York

I've sometimes been interested in the idea of living there
Arizona
Hawaii
Wyoming

I would probably be okay with living there, but it's not a high choice:
Texas
Vermont

I don't want to live there:
California
Illinois
Ohio

Hawaii easily. Living on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean sounds awful to me

Hawaii no question. I hear the natives there don't like outsiders living there. And it's expensive to live there. And I'd be trapped on an island unless I wanted to spend money on airline tickets.

This is a common misconception. It's mainly the natives who are super overprotective of their homeland who tend to fit that negative stereotype. Of course like every place there will be those who are intolerant of others, but for the most part natives are pretty friendly, no matter where you're from.

Other points are 100% valid :<

I work with a guy who used to live in Hawaii. The stories about how expensive EVERYTHING in Hawaii is were astounding. When he moved to the mainland, he was shocked when a candy bar didn't cost him 5 dollars.

yeah, everything costs more on islands that aren't connected by bridges. even Martha's Vineyard in MA has really high prices for everything because the only way there is by ferry.

Well I mean Hawaii is for those who can get a decent income. Im not rich by any means, but having a state job really helps out with other expenses, since it gives great benefits like awesome insurance and 54-55 paid days off per year.

If you cant get a job with good benefits and/or high pay then yeah, Hawaii is gonna suck nards. Hard. Probably why we have the highest homeless rate per capita.

And I voted for California for a number of reasons. One is that its the only other place that Ive been to enough to be able to give a fair assessment. Also because its basically Hawaii but with terrible water. High prices, hot weather, plenty homeless, etc. I give zero fucks about politics when it comes to choosing where to live, but the water in California (or is it the whole mainland?) is just so chlorinated...When you live for 30 years on an island that has its tap water filtered for 25 years through volcanic rock, its hard to drink anything else lol.

Another nice thing about Hawaii is how small it is. We consider 45 minutes to be a long drive lol. When I visited my aunt in California and she told me that it was gonna take 6 hours to get to Yellowstone, I was like wut lol

Yeah, its really nice. 1.75 sick and 1.75 vacation days per month, and 12-13 holidays, depending on if its an election year (so every other year it alternates).
