I feel like all of these are bad franchises with 1 or 2 good movies in them.

I haven't seen everything, but going by general consensus (and excluding straight-up remakes/reboots):

Romero's Dead: 3 legitimately great movies out of 6 (50% worth watching)
Child's Play: 3 entertaining movies out of 7 (43% worth watching)
Alien: not horror so who cares (but 2/6 are great FWIW) (33% worth watching)
Saw: all of them are bad (0% worth watching)
Scream: 1 great and 3 good movies out of 4 (100% worth watching)
Friday the 13th: I'd say a good 5 out of 10 of these are entertaining enough (50% worth watching)
Paranormal Activity: never watched but I've heard bad things (0% worth watching?)
Final Destination: They're all the same but I feel like all 5 are kinda fun right? (100% worth watching?)
Evil Dead: 2 great, 1 good movies out of 3 (100% worth watching)
Halloween: 1 great movie, 1 good movie, 1 entertaining movie (III) out of 9 (not counting Rob Zombie's remake and sequel) (33% worth watching)
Nightmare on Elm Street: 1 great movie, 2 good movies, 2 entertaining movies out of 7 (71% worth watching)

To reiterate, Halloween is probably the most garbage major slasher franchise ever. I guess it just shows you how powerful the original is.

3 and 4 are trash. Still, 60% isn't bad

If we're going by "entertaining" most of them are that at least. Except Scream sort of sucks; it was the era with Disney style chimes for scares.

The original is infinitely better and one of the GOAT movies, but damn part 2 is brutal. I wouldn't call it entertaining though, it's just unsettling to watch.

Wouldn't you say that's the kind of the point of Scream though? To tear down typical notions of what we find scary in films?

Unfortunately, I feel like that gets lost nowadays because all things considered, Scream has a pretty crap legacy in terms of the knock-offs it inspired.

Scream 1 is brilliant satire and the rest are just well-written movies. Sadly the majority of Scream fans at the time didn't "get" it.

Well I guess it's a different type of horror movie. H20 was kind of like that too. They kind of showed more gore but at the same time the comedy and ridiculousness were cranked up.

The newest one received good reviews. Past that I guess Rob Zombie's remakes, the original Halloween II, Halloween III, and Halloween H2O have their fans?
