This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if there is a compelling reason for both characters to be linked (either co-starring in a game ala Banjo & Kazooie, or always appearing together like Callie & Marie from Splatoon).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Note that LAW Fodder is meant to be a tier reserved for the weakest possible characters to put into a contest. A character will only be placed there if at least 3/4ths of the voters for that day agree on the LAW Fodder rating, and no ratings above Low Fodder are given. If either of those conditions are not met, the character will not be eligible for the LAW Fodder tier.

Lucas is Low Fodder - I'm not sure how well-liked he really is, but he did terrible in previous contest appearances and Mother 3 still does not have an official english release.

Ant-Man I will say is High Fodder, but barely. I think Gfaqs likes the Ant-Man movies more than Captain Marvel, and Scott is probably the most relatable of any hero in the MCU. Plus he had a significant role in Endgame. I don't think voters will differentiate much between the Pym and Scott Ant-Man either.

Boba Fett I say is High Fodder. He's an iconic and popular character, who is known for doing next to nothing in the Star Wars movies. I think a lot of his popularity comes from being a presumed bad*ss, due to his design and interactions with Vader in Episode V. I don't see him beating the likes of Chewie, or even Palpatine (due to the memes).

I'd argue Lucas barely breaking Mid Fodder, he's been in a few Smash games by now and should be recognizable enough to beat characters nobody cares about.

Agreed on High Fodder for the other two.

On further thought I will move Lucas to Mid Fodder. His only match occurred right after Brawl released and just a few years after Mother 3 came out in Japan. He's been in 2 more smash games since then and there are more people wanting his game to get an official EN release.

Lucas - Mid fodder

Calling him low fodder is basically singling him out as the clear weakest playable Smash character of them all and whole hes certainly way on the lower end Im reluctant to do that. Particularly since while Mother 3 probably wouldnt be enough on its own to let him escape low fodder, that game isnt totally pathetic, official release or no.

High fodder for Bobba Fett.

Mid fodder for Ant Man. I was going to go High but then thought Ant Man vs Lucas or whatever you think the worat Smash character is. I dont think Id pick Ant Man there and Id certainly be unsure of it if I did.

Lucas - Yeah, Mid Fodder. Mother 3 has a devoted fanbase, and as it showed in 2015, some semblance of strength. In fact, Lucas probably isn't bottom 5 among the playable Smash characters.

Boba Fett - Sure, I'll trust Star Wars popularity to get him to High Fodder.

Ant-Man - Mid Fodder. In general, people don't care about the movies he stars in. And while I certainly wouldn't take him to job to the weakest Smash character, I wouldn't choose him over Lucas with any confidence. That being said, as a prominent MCU character, he'll have a semblance of strength.
