It apparently has something to do with Python or the IDE I use for it. Do you think my PC is safe to use? - Results (4 votes)
You got hacked. Get it fixed straightaway, see.

You're good to go; probably has something to do with PyCharm asking you to restart your PC or whatever.

Also, this was the result of this morning's scan. I didn't do a full scan because my laptop always freezes when I do: https://imgur.com/a/ydc6E8D

I wasn't even awake around twelve in the AM last night. Anyway, I must have these answers.

Well, first off, it's Edge, so it's likely trying to be smart and intuitive by asking if you want to use or install it, instead of just letting you browse. Check through your installed apps and programs for anything that you don't recognize or anything that installed or updated in the past 24 hours. Post the results here?

Might want to also delete all temp settings in Edge and Firefox, just to be sure there's nothing hiding. Plugins and extensions too.

So, yesterday, the programs, JetBrains PyCharm Community Edition 2019, Microsoft Visual C+ 2017 Redistributable, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Application, Python 3.8.0, Python Launcher, R for Windows 3.6.1, Vulkan Run Time Libraries, WinRAR, and a bunch of other stuff was installed. Of these applications, ignore the ones you know you installed. I don't do a lot of programming so I don't recognize JetBrains or R for Windows. Google search of them doesn't paint a shady picture so I guess they're fine?

Honestly, if you didn't install JetBrains, it's very possible it piggybacked into an install of something else, like how Norton or McAfee try to piggyback into the installs of legit software, but if you're paying attention, you can uncheck the option to install them.

I installed the programming interpreters (or whatever you call them), but do not recall updating WinRAR. Otherwise, it's just the Windows programs that were installed without my consent. Also, the Vulkan Run-Time Libraries came with the computer. In any case, a quick Google-search indicate that WinRAR is somewhat affiliated with Microsoft, I think. I should be safe as far as I know. Thanks for the tech-support. I very much appreciate your willingness to help someone so technologically inept. <<';

Microsoft Visual C++ 2013/2017 was likely a requirement in order to install one of the others, like Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Application.

I am curious as to why your computer freezes during the full scan, but it's probably just resources or requirements. If you don't mind me asking, what are the specs of your computer?

And no worries. I work in desktop support so this is my job and I'm not completely shit at my job so, yay. Glad to help oot.
