So... literal BlogFaqs, and hopefully I finish this time (the last time I barely started and the time before that I only got about 1/2 done)

I'm going to do a take on the Wendigo cryptid ... I want to write a mystery story about a little girl who cannibalizes her parents and the psychology involved, both between the girl and the detective/lawyer/whoever... One of the key points of the Wendigo is their behaviour is contagious, and the protagonist will find themselves sympathizing with brutality

...

or I might take it a different direction as I go - this is just the outline before starting.

I always hated that they picked November for Namo - back when I was in college the combination of it being the same month as Thanksgiving, plus that being the same time when a lot of my papers/projects/presentations started coming due meant I always had reasons to just not bother doing it.

If they'd done it in like March or April I'd probably have been way more into it.

It's not (technically) hard; just like exercising with bros, we're here to spot for each other so we all finish.

It can be as hard as you want. You set the goal/word count and schedule yourself.

I think the hardest part is meeting your own expectations.

But did you ever write a short story a day for 30 straight days?

The trick to Namo isn't necessarily output, it's consistency. You're basically cranking out 1,670 words per day if you're on proper pace. But every day you slack or miss means more words on another day, until it starts to feel less surmountable.

The whole point of Namo is to get you into the habit of just writing and learning how to break through writer's block and avoid procrastinating.

Sounds like good practice for someone aiming to be some sort of novelist.
