Current Events > I have roughly 200 Power Moons on my new Super Mario Oddssey file. *spoilers*

I've beaten the main game, including the Moon and the final boss section, and am now going back and getting more Power Moons. I've been going through the Sand Kingdom, the Lost Kingdom, and others, looking for Power Moons.

Excellent game, but the sheer amount of content is a significant downer, not an upper. I mean...look at it this way. Super Mario 64 has 7 Stars per world; Super Mario Sunshine has 11 Shines per world; Super Mario Galaxy 1 had 1 - 7 Stars per world; Super Mario Galaxy 2 had 1 - 3 Stars per world; Super Mario Oddssey, on the other hand, has up to about 90 Power Moons per world. Wtf. This is absolutely ridiculous. You spend hours wandering around various worlds, and even after getting dozens of Power Moons, there are still more to get. Also, there's too much emphasis on exploration, and not enough on platforming. I'm thrilled they finally made a proper platform-adventure game, instead of just pretty linear platforming, but they didn't get the balance right at all. Super Mario 64 had a perfect balance.

Thoughts on this game, and personal achievements in it? Did anyone on this board ever get all the Power Moons? How do you feel about the amount of content they thought it would be really clever to include?

Of the 800+ moons, only 100-150 are memorable and or notable

A lot of it is padding or straight up stupid requirements

Would have been better if it simply went to 360 moons

I think Banjo-Kazooie was probably the exact right number of major items to collect in each world, i.e. 10 Jiggies. Perfect. Rare knew exactly what they were doing, back in the day. It also had an excellent blend / balance of platforming and exploring.
