Wow. What a nice sequel to Terminator 2, I'm surprised no one talked about it at the time, when it came out in 1999.

I mean, the CGI isn't as good, but they compensated for it by having more of it. And they made good use of the political issues in 1999 such as border prisoners and lack of health care... REALLY on the ball.

While not as good as the first two, it's a pretty decent part 3... but I think the Matrix, which comes out next week, will beat it.

...

...

...

What? It's not 1999? It's 2019? OHHHhhnnn oononono.... no nonononno... no.

Ya, I'm mostly just teasing - it really wasn't bad, not groundbreaking in any way like T2 was.

But it really did feel like the "real" Terminator 3

I'm not going to see it cause I heard that they kill John Conner in like the first 5-10 minutes, completely nulling-and-voiding the events of Terminator 1 & 2.

Actually, it works out... and the CGI Furlong was pretty dang spot on. So much so it could have been deleted footage from 199X

You answered his post with a completely unrelated statement in regards to why he didn't see the movie.

You basically just said the CGI is good.

Also, while the CGI as a whole isn't great - some of it is pretty nice.

Depends on what you mean by "it works out".

John Conner being killed meaninglessly in the first 5-10 minutes, completely nulling-and-voiding the events of Terminator 1 & 2 does happen.

This is in service of recreating the exact same terminator plot with a new chosen savior and a new AI overlord that also made skeleton robots despite being a completely different AI.

Right, because Judgment Day is inevitable. The whole arc of Terminator is there's no fate but what you make, but the individual successes of a few heroes will never be able to overcome the will of mankind as a whole.

I'm just gonna spoiler tag cause I have no idea what the pussy mods consider a spoiler anymore

In that case, the savior of mankind is also inevitable apparently. So why even bother trying to keep all these people alive if literally nothing can be done to change anything?

I mean, in the original series the machines literally made John Connor. They're directly responsible for creating the thing that was their downfall. That's really not so much the case in this movie.

I could start a crazy time travel logic argument about how the statement that Judgement Day being inevitable came from a movie that no longer exists according to Dark Fate, or that Legion is not the result of "Judgement Day" which was caused by Skynet, but instead I will post this.

That's also true. The implication, similar to the new Halloween movie, is that any of the movies after two never happened. That they actually stopped Skynet from being created entirely, but something else took its place.

Judgment Day is inevitable but that doesnt mean it has to come in the form of laser-wielding robots.

Do people still go to the movies?

Terminator was a huge franchise in the 80s and 90s, but its thirty years later now. Maybe the younger generation isnt interested.

Yep. Anyone under the age of 30 probably has no express interest in Terminator, and the 30+ that should, won't, because of all the changes.

Thank you for the laugh. I wished Genisys focused on the war and concluded with Reese being sent back in time. I thought that woulda been a fitting end by coming full circle back to how the series started. Overall I enjoyed it but I wished they didn't reboot the story.

Until, ya know, it does. Because that's literally what happened in this movie. They had HK's, T-800's, T-1000's and even the T-X which is really what the big baddie of this movie is. It's incredibly uncreative and boring.

I would have been thrilled if they managed to come up with some creative way of flipping the script. Maybe this movie could have had the augmented human chick be the antagonist instead and made it a psuedo twist in the same way that T2 was where you didn't know who the bad guy was. Something that thinks like a human rather than a machine could have been fun.

But instead we got the same movie we have four other movies of and done more poorly than at least two of them. It's just boring.
