I dont remember much about having the chicken pox other than feeling a lot better towards the end, and my mom yelling at me for playing Sega instead of resting in bed.

Theres a vaccine for it now. Only us 30-year-old boomers have to worry about shingles

Shingles are worse, the good news is that you can only get them if you had chickenpox. So if your parents were sane and got you vaccinated, you're safe.

I got to play with a water heater box and turned it into a fort, slid it down the stairs, good times.

Still wasn't great, but suppose that's the plus side to having it in preschool, too young to fully care/remember other than 'this is weird/crappy'

My great grandma took me in during my chicken pox and made me take a bath in like an inch of water, but she had plastic snakes and horses to play with. I found a vitamin e pill on the floor and thought it was candy so I ate it and it was disgusting.

A lot of the young parents of millenials still didn't know about vaccination until well after the fact. Pox parties were still a thing when I was a kid, and I'm 29.

I sure hope I don't get shingles.

It was submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration for approval in 1990 and was approved in 1995. Since then, it has been added to the recommended vaccination schedules for children in Australia, the United States, and many other countries.

I was born before the vaccine was available, so I got the pox in kindergarten.

I still remember the itching. It was horrible and it got over half the class over the period of a few weeks. I remember the sores all over my body and just being miserable. I would have gotten the vaccine if it was available back then.

Definitely getting the shingles vaccine as soon as I'm eligible.
