I pre-ordered it today after watching some reviews. Im prepared for some boring periods in the game.
Looks like a game you should really look into before buying, as it will probably be frustratingly boring for a lot of people.

This is just a guess, but I think that people who felt RDR2 was too slow or boring will have a harder time with this one

A lot of reviewers seem to enjoy the boring parts also, though

I'm not an ADHD riddled zoomer so it doesn't look boring at all to me. It looks intriguing and unique. Reviews haven't killed my hype, the opposite actually.

If you don't understand why this gameplay style might be boring to someone then you're just being obtuse.

I saw a guy on another forum who is pretty reputable claim there are only a handful of combat encounters in the entire game, and that it's basically just all about figuring out how travel across different terrain.

I'm fucking baffled that this was what Kojima wanted to make after all the years of being tied to Metal Gear Solid.

Neither am I but it still looks like ill get more enjoyment from this game looking at youtube clips then actually playing it. Fortunately it will be in gamers hands soon and they can decide if its really that boring or not.

Tbqh I was not interested in this game at all, but now I kinda am. I like that type of mundane gameplay in games. I'm not sure if it's just where I'm at in life or what, but these types of "not conventionally fun" games are intriguing to me right now.

I have this weirdly strong feeling that the game is going to be one of those experiences you either play in the first few months, or never at all.

If all the stuff about building resources being shared with others is true, and how killing people taints everyone's worlds and leads to more BT(?) summonings, the first few months should see the online world go from a barren wasteland to a thriving environment filled with roads, little towns with storage areas, ways to bypass dangerous spots, etc. Once that's all in place, though, it'd be a radically different game than at launch and all the fun will have been had already.

Like, I can imagine some players will decide to GTA it and run around killing everything, which will lead to extremely difficult patches of land that other players can traverse and set up safe areas. Since "upvoting" a structure nets you XP to level up, players will be incentivized to actually go into these areas because weaker players will find those new structures useful, which makes you even more powerful. If things work right, it could be an incredibly dynamic and fulfilling "living world" where every day you deal with the actions of others and in turn get to have an impact on the world you're walking through.

But that requires a large, active online community, Once that dies down you'll be just like the review copies: walking an empty world, alone.
