I understand that dogs and cats can be loyal and loving to their human companions (and perhaps some strangers as well.) I know they are smart and many people love them.

I too had pets (but only turtles and fish.) They were good, but after we gave away my turtle and my fish passed away I never really had an innate desire to have an animal companion again.

You may say that dog and cats are more interactive companions and would be better than turtles and fish. I know that, but the thing is that I'm still not really fond of dogs. The main thing I don't like is their barking. Also, I suppose they are too "touchy-feely" to me when they are friendly, but that's not as bad as the barking if I get used to it. I suppose I could tolerate cats but I wouldn't actively get one (unless I meet a girl who likes them.)

Dogs also can be jealous and hog the couch when someone is over but they are a great excuse to go outside for a walk and maybe get away from people in the house.

Hey, I try. Sometimes, I'll admit, the dog loving culture, drives me crazy (especially since there's a lot of attractive girls who like them.) But yeah, what you said makes sense and I agree.

No, don't let this "pets are life" mentality going around get the best of you. Most people are lonely and attach themselves to whatever attention they'll get and pets are an easy avenue since they don't really have a choice in the matter, so they go nuts in expressing how much they love everything about their existence just like new parents do with their children. I block just about every page regarding pets I see on FB because it's annoying af.

I find it a bit odd to just not like pets but to each their own

Youd fucking think so with the way people act like having a pet is the be-all end-all of life.

Dont get me wrong, animals are great (my parents have an amazing kitty and my friends have two great cats and a dog) but Im so glad I dont have one.

I guess it would be different if I had the time, money, and patience... but I just dont have that right now.

One of my unrealistic goals is to find a cute girl who isnt pet-crazy but, like... good luck with that lol.
