You think everyone hates him but its an illusion.

The majority of Americans dont have a Twitter account and use Twitter. The media is all over him creating more of an illusion that nobody likes him.

when it comes down to it, Trump is basically going up against socialism if Warren or Sanders win. Thats a problem.

A lot of people on Twitter also hate him only because he's too liberal. There's a surprisingly vibrant conservative community on there beyond the MAGA cultists.

Probably just a relieved sigh at best.

Im not American, so the impact he has had on my country is limited... though not nonexistent AFAIK.

Dude, we played this game already. Even the most right leaning poll you could find (Rasmussen) had him tied with Obama in approval ratings. That's fucking abysmal. Take the rest of the polls into account, along with the popularity of impeachment being on the rise, and you've got a not-so-great looking picture for Trump. Also, factor in that a large amount of Democrats idiotically stayed home because they thought Hillary had it in the bag. You won't see such complacency this time. Simply by numbers, high voter turnout favors Democrats more than Republicans and with as high profile as 2020 will be, I see record breaking turnout to oust the buffoon.

Honestly, you're putting too much faith into a poll a YEAR before the election. They're completely irrelevant this far out.

Rural areas aren't going to say "I voted for Trump last time, but since I hate him so much this time....Ehhh,,,yeah, let's try socialism or socialist policies"

Not going to happen. Your best bet is to nominate a moderate Democrat, and Biden fits that mold...but he's really aging badly and nobody really likes the guy.

They just won't vote. Which won't help Trump win.

You're not giving people in these rural areas enough credit. They know the economy could nose dive and they could lose their jobs. Right now, they've got a good thing. Business owners won't want to give up tax cuts and stifle the economy. Blue collar workers don't care about your social issues.

He really *should* be easy to beat but it does seem the democrats are insistent on running a weak candidate so that its up in the air until the last minute. >_>

Like someone else mentioned, Biden has really aged terrible in four years--he could've won in 2016 but now he seems a lot more confused than he used to. I think he would be a good candidate otherwise--he wins back PA and plays well in those other rust belt, blue collar, blue dog democrat type states that Trump managed to win by a teeny-tiny margin.

But I don't see Bernie or Warren doing that.

Maybe Mayor Pete? I dunno.

Bernie or Warren will have the base of course but I think they lose a chunk of the union worker types that normally go blue (but didn't entirely for Hillary) and they won't play to the independents and moderate republicans that want a Romney or Kasich, not a Trump. Tulsi plays well to that group I think but she's never getting the nomination.

I'm very right-wing, and I would be a lot more worried about Warren or Sanders than a geriatric old man or Buttjudge. Hell I kind of have a fondness for both of them myself.

Is this the Horseshoe Theory in practice?

Maybe? I'm not even on the same end of the spectrum on economics, which is less common than you'd think it is these days on the right. I just have a lot more respect for what looks like principle and charm than I do for the SJW neolib business-as-usual types of the Democratic Party.

Nope. Michelle Obama and Oprah are FAR SUPERIOR public speakers. They have charisma and chemistry with regular people. Michelle Obama, still in my mind, had one of the best speeches I've ever heard in my life.

So you don't support trump but you support his supporters? Again, I am confused because you claim to like principles and charm.

You're trying to be cute. Use your imagination and try to figure out why someone on the right would align more with the Republicans than the Democrats. I like the movement that's behind him, that is my answer to you. As a president he is too similar to Bush but that is essentially the theme of my biggest criticisms of him.

Same, too early to say (and obviously we don't know who will be the nominee anyway) but I think I could maybe be talked into crossing party lines and voting Biden or Mayor. Warren or Sanders, I probably don't vote, vote actual conservative that is running third party like last time.
