This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if there is a compelling reason for both characters to be linked (either co-starring in a game ala Banjo & Kazooie, or always appearing together like Callie & Marie from Splatoon).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Note that LAW Fodder is meant to be a tier reserved for the weakest possible characters to put into a contest. A character will only be placed there if at least 3/4ths of the voters for that day agree on the LAW Fodder rating, and no ratings above Low Fodder are given. If either of those conditions are not met, the character will not be eligible for the LAW Fodder tier.

I think Mipha is on the stronger end of the BotW champions with Urbosa, and can hit Fodder Line. Gfaqs probably likes her and I think her *cuteness* will help her get votes too.

Uh. . . I'll say Low Fodder for Tron. I don't really know though, I'm just guessing that only a small portion of voters will like one of the Tron films enough to vote for the main program protagonist. The series' appearance in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance is likely not that relevant either.

Mysterio I say is High Fodder. He is a mainstay in Spidey's rogues gallery and has large roles in countless Spider-Man games. His illusion-based tactics and appearance are popular, and his portrayal by Jake Gyllenhaal in Far From Home is still fresh in people's minds.

Mipha: Fodder Line. In terms of strength, it goes Sidon > Urbosa > Mipha > Daruk > Revali, most likely. Mipha can be argued for either High Fodder or Fodder Line, but I err toward the latter just barely. And no, I don't have Mipha's autograph; I'll be adding Zelda's and Revali's this month.

Tron: Low Fodder. Dated reference, not something you hear about. Cool enough to not be LAW Fodder, methinks.

Mysterio: High Fodder. That's because of Jake Gyllenhaal. Give it another year or two and he's probably Mid Fodder.

Mipha: High Fodder

Tron: Low Fodder - I think I nominated Tron because for some reason, it feels like the series' small diehard fanbase is disproportionately concentrated on GameFAQs? Even if true, though, that isn't going to get him any higher.

Mysterio: Mid Fodder - Far From Home isn't quite new enough anymore for me to have any further confidence.

Mipha: High Fodder. Don't really see the hype for the BotW champions; appealing characters from a popular game but they simply don't have enough reach to draw high vote totals. Could be convinced of fodder line.

Tron: Low Fodder. Nah

Mysterio: Mid Fodder. Don't think gaming and comic fans have quite enough overlap to make Mysterio a big draw here. Too minor a character. Bordering on low.

All fodder.

I don't think Mipha would be high fodder... yet. If this character returns for BotW2 they eventually might even go mid-tier, but very recent Zelda games are always (since MM) mixed bags and then beloved by the time the rerelease comes around.

Tron almost only gets joke/hate votes.

Mysterio gets some votes, maybe mid fodder. Before the last Mr. Spidermen movie low tier.
