Letting humans kill each other is a huge inefficiency for machines who like being efficient.
Humans are a precious resource supposedly yet they just let madmen go crazy and kill a bunch of them.

It doesn't even make sense to use humans as batteries, it requires more energy to sustain us than you would gain from harvesting our energy.

thought you were going to say how the entire premise of the movie is illogical because it violates the first law of thermodynamics

The original script has the machines instead network all the human brains together into some big neural net. They discarded that because they thought it would be too complex for moviegoers to understand.

Maybe that's just what the matrix wants you to think. The real humans may be super juiced with electricity.

Maybe they have bike pedals in the pods and the matrix makes them constantly exercise...

2. The "real world" is still The Matrix.

I kinda wish it was like that. Because Neo actually having superpowers in the real world was stupid.

i'm still trying to figure out how they control the robots that actually free humans from captivity not to mention let their huge ships anywhere near the fields to pick them up.

The plot revealed zion was part of the system of control the oracle designed.

Aka the robots allowed a small amount of humans to escape on purpose.

Why did the Matrix need to exist in the first place, doesn't that take power to run? Why not just grow and harvest veggy bodies without hooking them up to a computer

The Matrix can be fixed with two bits of head-canon:

1. The Matrix is a biological supercomputer, not an energy system.
2. The "real world" is still The Matrix.
And it's a science fiction movie. Who cares?

Wasn't the whole thing that the machines couldn't make the Matrix too perfect because people wouldn't believe it?

i kind of completely ignored the 2nd and 3rd movie's plot and focused on the action because the 1st movie had none of the same plot elements.

that also doesn't really work.
cause that would mean they built a big Neural net computer to house the neural net computers

I always assumed the implication was that the human battery thing was complete bullshit and the machines were just nicer than people. Instead of exterminating them, they built a fantasy world where they could be contained but still mostly happy.

But I never saw the movies so

So, I had a friend whose life was a giant conspiracy theory. She was 100% into the raw diet, she believed everything that David Icke claimed was true, she believed in intermendionsal entities and manifesting and EVP and reptilians, and that movies were true, and she followed some woman on YouTube who claimed she was drugged and abused in satanic rituals as a child (wish I could remember her name).

She claimed that the Matrix movies are real, and that they demonstrate how reptilians operate. She was ecstatic when Jupiter Ascending came out because it was even more in line with what she was talking about all the time.

According to her, the reptilians constructed this interdimensional net around the planet that spirits can't escape from. Human spirits, and aliens spirits from other dimensions that come to inhabit the planet in the form of people or other creatures, wind up being trapped and being consumed by the reptilians. She believed that they nourished our worst feelings - anxiety, fear, hatred - as a way to fatten us up (because I guess that makes spirit souffle that much better?) The whole Matrix trilogy was an allegory for this - that we're trapped in a simulated reality and the robots were there to capture the real "us" after we exited the simulation to consume us for nourishment.
