no deflection here, just pointing out the fact that there's already a precedent for this!

I also know what your concern is - that perhaps if placed in a precarious situation where the president's pet is trapped in a burning building with a baby, that the president would rescue the pet instead.

i can guarantee you that would not happen if my cat were elected - he's neutered with zero kittens or pets to worry about, his only choice would be to save the baby.
