I like the design. I have always been a fan of the clam-shell design since the GBA SP.

I'm not in a hurry to go out and buy one but if my carrier offers it as an upgrade I'll give it a whirl.

I'm not saying the Galaxy Fold is worth $2000, but it's more worth $2000 than a mid-range gimped $1500 Razr.

Fold at least has a giant screen, Snapdragon 855, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage and near record-setting battery life.

And the Note 10's camera.

This thing is DOA which is a shame because I like the throwback look.

But nobody is paying $1500 for midrange specs. The Fold costs $500 more, but you are getting a proper flagship in addition to the bleeding edge design.

Their claim is battery life being a tradeoff for the specs, needing to use a lower-end processor to fit the small amount of physical space and still retain some measure of decent battery. The camera being so-so is also part of that.

Personally I feel like this is going to be a one-off. They're not going to bother making a better one and will just move onto a different foldable design later.

Not when everything else can be found in phones costing $200-$300.

The Fold costs $2000 because you get the bleeding edge engineering (foldable tablet), bigger form factor and screens, and it's a proper flagship with the appropriate specs. The cameras and processor on the Fold are the same ones on the S/Note series.

The Folding mechanism is the really only innovative part IMO, that can be applied to different, bigger, thicker variations of the same folding phone down the line.

Imagine a 24:9, 32:9, or even 42:9 flip phone down the line.

The Galaxy Fold is overpriced, to be sure. But Samsung maxed out literally everything in it, from storage (512 GB standard) to battery life (4400 mAh) to specs (855, 12 GB RAM) to camera (Note 10's setup).

Seriously though, if you're going to spend that much money on a phone to flex, it better have flex specs too.

I wholeheartedly concur.

The next phones can use a little more "THICC-ness" to it.

Not every phone needs to be "Super Model Thin".

Remember, the iPhone 3G was 12.3mm thick and I've seen plenty of other people carry attached battery bank cases to make their phone even thicker.

So don't be afraid to make your phone a THICC unit =D.
