So my favorite festival of the last few years, Psycho Las Vegas, has been announcing a smattering of artist for the 2020 edition

so far theyve announced:

Ulver
Windhand
Mayhem
Ty Segall
Blonde Redhead
Kaelan Mikla
Mephistofeles
Elder
The Skull
Old Man Gloom
Watain
Mga

its concerning to me that of the 12 bands theyve chosen to represent the festival so far, three of them have faced legitimate Nazi controversies (Mayhem, Watain, Mephistofeles) and one is flat out NSBM (Mga)

I really dont know how I can support a festival that has chosen to do thisno matter how dope the lineup will ultimately be

Its easier to justify a band like Mayhem that has been hugely influential and where the most problematic contributors arent in the band anymore (although Hellhammer is a piece of shit)

mgla is a band whose members performed in a literal Nazi band (clandestine blaze) as recently as 2016

it depends on the type of metal. I don't like Black or Death Metal, but I have found myself over the past 10 years really growing attached to European symphonic metal. Stuff like Nightwish, Within Temptation and Stratovarius. Along with older metal bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath.

So I sent an email to MGM Entertainment, which is where Psycho Las Vegas hosts the festival, with some links to articles about MGLAs links to Nazi metal.

to my surprise, I got a a response within a couple hours from a Senior VP of Entertainment, thanking me for reaching out and promising to look into it

so that would be neat if I helped get them kicked off the bill

Listening to reggae, alternative, hip-hop, and pop right now, mostly, with some jazz, country, and dance on the side. And also posting in this topic for quick reference.

Off the top of my head I can't even think of 10 albums for a year end list.

There are good albums I'm sure, but nothing that really just JUMPS OUT and makes me go "Woah, yeah, that's definitely 10/10 for sure."

yeah there's a bunch of high 6/low 7s tier. which is decent, but not something that will last me years. blood incantation is the standout for me. other stuff i loved this year is from other genres.

LITERALLY Blood Incantation was the one album I thought of while making that post that made me go "Okay well there's that one, but I'm not gonna mention it because I got a point to prove and this'll go against that."

Like you said, lots of stuff I feel comfortable throwing 7s and 8s at, ie Alcest, Tomb Mold, Gatecreeper, but these aren't albums I'm gonna be in love with 5-10 years from now.
