I played the game for five and a half hours roughly, borrowed it from a friend - I can't do it. It's simply not fun

It's a Job Simulator game with a story. If you don't like games like Farming Simulator or European Truck Driver Simulator you aren't going to like it. It doesn't mean that the game is bad.

The game starts out a slow. After the first 3-5 hours, it's become one of the best open world games I've ever played. It has plenty of gear, weapons, etc.

The game is so weird in many ways.

First you learn how to walk properly, which is fine in itself. Then you eventually you unlock a bike that completely negates this mechanic.

Then there are packages that can damaged, but it never seems to affect your rating, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Enemies are never hard to deal with.

Everything that even remotely can build up tension and add depth to the game gets negated somehow. The story is convoluted as fuck, now this is Kojima of course, but sometimes terms get thrown around just to make it sound meaningful, but it is never explained.

The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, the music is great and the sound could have been a bit better, but it is by no means bad.

There is a huge emphasis on certain gameplay mechanics that get massively diminished, and that is what fucks up the immersion of the game. The bike I mentioned earlier can almost go up to a 90 fucking degree angle, making terrain traversal a fucking joke.

Lets take some from the same day the game was released...

Its pretentious and boring. Hideo Kojima swears hes some kind of genius all the while making the most boring game that consists of nothing but walking for 40 hours. There is NOTHING engaging about the gameplay and the writing is horrid. I just cant stomach 20 more hours of this game.
So he already played 20 of those 40 hours?

Terrible writing, boring gameplay (b-but it's a new "strand" genre!), too many cutscenes and it is full of product placement. I give it a 3, because at least building was fun. It was overhyped both by fans and through pretentious marketing that barely shown any gameplay. In case of games like Red Dead Redemption 2 they barely show any gameplay, but you know what you are getting into, because all Rockstar games are similar. This was supposed to be something new, yet they did not show much. I feel bad for all the people who pre-ordered this and then got ripped off.
I give it a 3, which is why I gave it a 0!

Best part is to click on the reviewers accounts and see their other reviews.
It wont take long until you find one that gives Microsoft exclusives 9 or 10 while Sony exclusives gets 0 or 1.

Also damage will definitely affect your rating. It's just at thresholds depending on the order specifics. Generally over 10-15% is gonna knock you down a peg, not to mention other order conditions.
