ah yes, animal abuse

People make fun of the noise it makes, but it's fucking dying, scared, and biting the carrot out of defensive instinct. They're showing that it has a nasty beak-tooth bite, not feeding it.

They're gonna kill it and cook it anyway, so I'm not crying animal abuse, but it's just a bad look to me to make memes out of it.

Whether people meme it or not isnt something I'll really criticize. I'd say I'm a pretty big advocate for the ethical treatment of animals. Obviously I'm biased because while I do abstain from eating animals or animal byproducts, I make an exception with fish.
Anyways people meme and joke about far darker/more serious matters. So if the only thing people home in on is "funny noise", well that's that. I'm in little position to fault them for it.

Thats a surprisingly naive takeaway for an animal rights advocate. You realize the fish is only making that sound because its being tortured, right? Imagine some humans last grunt of pain being a funny sound before they die from their abuser, and everyone deciding to meme the grunt as if it has no context. Obviously most people value the lives of humans over those of animals, but the same logic applies if you care about both.

It's surprisingly naive for me to acknowledge that others might not care about certain causes as much as me and not fault them for it since I likely do the same? Just because something is important to me doesn't make objectively more important than other things.

I don't like getting up on a high horse when I have no right to. The point is, how are you going to criticize someone for memeing a fish dying if you've joked about much worse. That's pretty hypocritical don't ya think?
