He is uniquely positioned to hit back hard at any criticism Trump might have against an opponent and articulate enough to make a point about how unqualified Trump is just by comparison.

Hes the only one of the leading contenders under seventy.

Same for military experience which he can speak about firsthand with respect to how Trump has dishonored the military, squandered our international standing, and weakened if not destroyed the coalitions that were bringing the middle east furor to not an end but at least a tolerable exit point.

Literally the second one of the Democratic candidates falters hes going to absorb their followers (except for Bernie whose supporters are going to do anything but pout). With his extremely well organized and funded campaign staff covering everywhere he needs to be competitive he has consistently made only forward progress.

But really, Mayor Pete being racist shouldnt be news: his involvement with South Bends police department and general indifference towards black people and their concerns were compelling evidence on their own.

He also made black leaders have to opt out of him automatically putting them down as endorsements of his Douglass Plan. He consistently uses slimy tactics like this and pablum is the only language he speaks. Thankfully, as noted, it's only working on a few subsets of elderly white low info voters.

Im saying that while all of the others have some fundamental flaw that they have to overcome against in a general election every conceivable argument against can be countered pretty effectively.

He simply doesnt have any points to be attacked and possesses experience or an advantage in every area where Trump is unquestionably weak.

He just makes the geriatric crowd look old and tired and the younger candidates unqualified.

If he didnt get knocked out by the police shooting hes got more evidence he can stand up to Fat Donnie.

It's possible to be both angry and rational. But then there's this part of the article:

This is not a misunderstanding. This is not a misstatement. Pete Buttigieg went to the best educational institutions America has to offer and hemore than anyone on the goddamned planetknows that everything he just said is a baldfaced lie.

The author is just throwing around angry assertions here, and it obscures the valuable lessons that the article has to offer.

Pete's not in my top three but I think it's totally valid to compare him to Biden, especially through the lens of race. Biden has overwhelming Black support compared to the rest of the field, which I confess is mystifying to me. I know it's not my place to question, but I'm curious. The article-- while it goes too far in ascribing malicious intent-- makes a compelling argument as to why Black voters don't trust Mayor Pete. What I don't understand is... why do they trust Biden? (Or give him a pass?).
