So sick of seeing these losers and their tents everywhere

Wish the government would get rid of these bums already

It's just too expensive to live in California. It's not just housing. Also gas/transpo, medical, taxes, everything is expensive. People don't have a cushion. Lose your job and get sick with no support system and that can put you on the streets

So those can turn into drug dens and crime hot spots? They built a new homeless shelter in my city, they have free meals every day, and lots of assistance programs. Know what happened? Drug addicts and other homeless flocked here to get in on the action. Its worse than ever.

Its ok to feel sorry for them but dont forget to mention that many are mentally ill, dangerous, and unpredictable. They made their own choices and many continually choose the easy way of drugs and alcohol while sponging government benefits. I was sleeping in my car earlier this year, for several months, and by immediately getting one full time and one part time job I now have my own place. Im not special I just worked hard and didnt make any excuses or abuse drugs and alcohol. Some people cant help themselves like I did and thats why we have safety net programs. But I know more than my share of homeless that are also lazy addicts who makes excuses and commit crime all the time. If you wouldnt want them in your house, how the fuck can you expect someone else to be happy about it? I have homeless friends, I dont trust them in my house because they do meth and steal from people and I like my shit.

I didn't say anything about people dying. Yes, less people die due to earthquake resistant buildings. There's still damage and people getting hurt.

Well commercially it's not very enticing to builders. Maybe the taxes saved on policing the homeless is worth the upkeep.

People keep trying to find a 'nice' solution to the homeless problem but there isnt one. In fact the more generous they are and the more money they throw at this epimedic the worse it gets.

But you are arent willing to play any other way the stfu and deal with it, or leave. Idc.

This right here. If it was more acceptable for shelters to open up in large centers, then these individuals would have a place to stay - but these shelters are seen as a 'bad thing.'

they ship em to portland (only voluntary). though there's few places that accept homeless so they have to hide out of sight from the cops or else risk 700$ fines.

haven't seen any homeless people lately on nightly run. usually see a few in my direction when i take a few gyms for the night.

here in Los Angeles, we overwhelmingly passed a tax increase to help the homeless, and 3 years later nothing has been done. the problem has only gotten worse, there are more homeless, and they are more aggressive than ever.

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/editorials/la-ed-hhh-hurdles-20161114-story.html

city council is finally just getting around to talking about building some "affordable" apartments. but again, the money will just be going to developers.

https://la.curbed.com/2019/9/19/20872593/affordable-homeless-housing-measure-hhh

I try to have sympathy, but at this point I'm fed up with having dinner dates with my wife interrupted by people asking for money.

Either force them to a shelter or a bus ticket to wherever they came from (if they can't produce proof of being a resident), and if they refuse, send them to prison (bonus if you build one to house just the homeless; cause that'd mean jobs in construction, staff, and logistic-related needs).

Solved.
