g2a, cdkeys, greenmangaming, it's all the same illicit shit

They're an unauthorized reseller.

The codes aren't stolen. This hasn't really been a problem for several years. They're like unauthorized digital movie resellers. The codes are gotten from bundles and overseas.

Chargebacks don't hurt developers wtf. They hurt the retailer. The developers feel nothing, since It's not their responsibility unless they're selling it directly.

Eventually, the whole thing is against the ToS of all the developers, studio and retailers in one way or another with "not for resale" clauses. They have every right to remove it. But with both movies and games, nobody has attempted this on a large level because it's shitty and will have backlash. For example, I'm not really allowed to sell the free movie code included in the Blu Ray even to my friend.

I agree except TC is talking specifically about year subscription keys for PS+ in which case I say fuck em and buy as many as you want.

CDKeys primarly exploits regional pricing issues to buy keys in bulk at a cheaper price then resell them to americans/europeans, there exist the potential of non legitimate keys just since their isn't transparency, but the risk is relatively low.

g2a, is where keys purchased from credit card fraud or other types of fraud is more common. g2a is peer2peer seller, with g2a acting like an ebay. So sometimes you're just getting buyers remorse and someone reselling their key. Sometimes you're getting oops this box of games fell off the truck. Sometimes you're getting promotional keys that are being resold.

People like Octiwrong and Loli_Furude don't know the difference between things and just get really angry and start yelling things. While also simultaneously arguing that you shouldn't do that to things their passionate about (Octiwrong and the ability for cops to kill innocent people and Loli_Furude and his ability to sexualize cartoon children). It's why Octiwrong can't provide anything about developers dealing with massive chargebacks from cdkeys. Because not only is he ignorant of the differences between cdkeys and g2a, he doesn't understand why publishers, retail stores, and distribution services exist. While Loli_Furude can't grasp the connection between illegitimate keys and the end user being punished.
