lots of jobs aren't paid well. not the customer's obligation to ensure the worker is paid what they feel they deserve. dont like it, tell them to get a min wage job. they intentionally work these jobs to take advantage of this stupid custom.

Tipping culture is why I don't go to restaurants anymore. Tipping is nice, but being pressured into tipping an arbitrary amount doesn't. "Oh you "have" to tip X%, even if the service was bad! You can't punish them, they might have had a bad day!"

I always tipped, but I found myself no longer enjoying the atmosphere. So I just don't give my businesses anymore.

Like shit man. People can't even agree on the pricing. It used to be "Tip at least 10%". Then "Tip at least 20%". Who comes up with these societal 'rules' and where are they getting their math?

That's not even getting into the racial stereotypes that occasionally pop up during this subject, which makes me enjoy eating out even less....

I work for a dispensary and even though customers do tip us at times, I make way more than enough and don't need them at all.
