Maze Runner director Wes Ball is set to help bring a newPlanet of the Apesmovie to the screen.
The Hollywood Reporterexplains the new Planet of the Apes film will be among the first of Fox's more famous titles to be redeveloped sinceDisney completed its acquisition of the studio.

So far there have been plenty of Planet of the Apes adaptions, including the original 1968 movie, its sequels, and a TV series back in the '70s. In more modern times we've seen filmmakers return to the story with Tim Burton's 2001 action-adventure and the even more recent and successful Rise of the Planet of the Apes trilogy which began in 2011.

All of these drew from the original source material, which was a French science fiction novel by Pierre Boule. This told the story of three human explorers who stumble upon a planet dominated by intelligent great apes.
Fox has enlisted Wes Ball, who's most famously known for directing the Maze Runner trilogy, to work on the upcoming film. It is not known whether the project is set to be another refresh or if it will pick up where the Caesar trilogy concluded in 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes.

The Maze Runner films were based on the novel by James Dashner and, not unlike Apes, featured a dystopian future.

I don't think the Planet of the Apes movies need to be rebooted this many times.

the first two movies in the Rise reboot trilogy were really good, IMO, with the second one being the best.

I wasn't really feeling the third one, but that could be because it wasn't what I was expecting.

The recent trilogy was amazing. This better be a continuation of that series or I won't really care.

Felt the same way about the first two (well, except Im split on which is the better), and also wasnt feeling War but I think it was for that same reason- expectations. Anyway, I rewatched it recently knowing what it is more now, and enjoyed it much better.
