Look - let's get real here. Your servers are underpaid and overworked, often below minimum wage.
Without them, you wouldn't get your meal. Full stop. If you eat out at a restaurant you should have to pay a tip/gratuity EQUAL to the price of the meal, aka 100% tip or else you can face criminal charges. I can guarantee if a law like that were passed food places would go bankrupt. No one wants to pay twice for the same meal.
