I think a lot of people are playing chess of responding to how they think he's going to be treated.

I can't believe I got modded for my post.

I literally asked my mother of her opinion before I even said anything and she basically thinks there's a lot of overreaction going on here.

But hey incels are the problem right?

i already know how this is gonna be interpreted. But 1) I think the term incel is dumb AF.
2) I don't fit the term anyway. I'm not a virgin and I actually have twins.
3) My mother's opinion was too harsh for GameFAQs lmao.

After reading through some more posts, I double down that this is way more a case of sexual harassment than it is sexual assault.

After reading their respective legal definitions, I think it could go either way. It could definitely be classified as simply harrassment but it wouldnt be difficult for a court to assert assault.

Its fine to call it harassment, thats probably more accurate anyways, since there was no attempt to injure or use of violent force. Doesn't mean he shouldn't face consequences, and the kind of guy who grabs random women's asses is a creep at the bare minimum.

It may be different this time, thanks to social media, but guys like him are the kind of guy who get reported to HR for grabbing the secretary's butt or flashing their dick to a female colleague and he is somehow the one who is owed an apology when everything has been said and done.

He is the kind of dude who gets asked how did he like studying at ______ and being part of the ______ greek fraternity at job interviews, while other candidates were scrutinized over having the "low" GPA of 3.9 and for being a Cum Laude and not a Summa Cum Laude.

Thats a lot of assuming about someone you dont know the slightest idea about.

That player has every right to pursue legal action.

I think the point is that he likely won't, and there likely isn't/wouldn't be a public outcry over this, which is a similar scenario to the reporter. If he did pursue legal action and/or sympathy, it's possible that he'd be met with contempt and people just telling him to man up and not worry about it

And that is unfortunate. That doesn't mean that people should care less about women getting assaulted so it is equal with men. It means people should support men reporting sexual assault more.

They should, but they won't. Since it won't happen, people will always bring that fact to attention when a double standard occurs. "But wait, that same thing happened to a man, and you didn't care then. Why do you care so much about it now, when it's a woman victim?!?". Because of this, some people, not all people, will care less about it when it does happen to a woman. They see action being taken only when the victim isn't male and it irritates them, so they become numb and hateful over it. Is it right? No, but people can be like that.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, double standards exist, and they will always exist. Also, people can be hypocrites. All people, myself included. We can take bias action, but then let the same thing slide when it suits us.
