The non-essential thing is something that doesn't contribute to your life in a meaningful way. So education costs wouldn't count, neither would medical costs unless it is something like plastic surgery. Obviously food/water, shelter, clothing and commutation (basic phone, internet, basic computer, etc) Do you take the deal? I get to experience things I never would otherwise, it's how I relax, it's my main hobby and interest, I've made tons of friends playing video games, so on and so forth.
