Now that the honeymoon phase is over we can step back and look at it more clearly.
I too played it like crazy when it first came out. Played it non stop for days. And thought it was awesome. But looking back. It is only a 7.5/10 game. Not a 9 or a 10 as everyone made it out to be. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Same. I played it, gets really boring in monarch. The writing is one of the worst obsidian ever done, worldbuilding is non existent, the quests design are just fallout 4 quests with some extra steps. Nowhere near new vegas level. Some of them are excellent but most of them are fetch quest from raider / monster nest #4943993 with some choices presented in the end.
Companions are ok mostly but aside from vicar max, no one is really intriguing. Likeable yes, intriguing no. Vicar's conflict is interesting how he use and latch on his beliefs as his paradigm, and tried to use it to free himself from his troubled past until his beliefs are challenged and came to term with it and himself. Other that him, meh. They are likeable like parvati, but in the end i dont think her (albeit pretty adorable) quest adds anything to the overall setting and worldbuilding or the story. It feels like written by highschool girl or something. It is not a bad game to say. Overhyped yes, overrated yea. 7/10 is fair imo, but nowhere near the masterpiece the hype claim it to be. The hype is mostly from bethesda being incompetent fucks that piss people up too much. --- http://i.imgtc.com/iJyp6bF.png http://i.imgtc.com/ZBw36Qh.png Thanks for the peeps that made the pics <3 if i make typos it means i am on phone ... The game came at the right time. Right when bethesda were being assholes and incompetent with fallout.
So that played a massive role. Say if fallout 76 was a massive success 9/10 game. Outer Worlds definitely wouldn't have as big of an impact. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

3/5, playable- if you absolutely are dying for a fallout-ish game, i guess this is it, but for people who just want a good game, it doesn't pull itself up past the "mediocre" bar

It's good, but for a game that is big on replayability I only got through a playthrough and a half. It doesn't live up to bug fixed New Vegas.
I'm not upset I bought it but I'm not going to act like it was the greatest thing ever. I found most of the companions annoying. I thought there wasn't enough weapon or armor variety. The second planet felt like a bit of a slog. The story felt a bit too safe. Good, not great. Feels like a game that needs a sequel but I fear it could get fucked up now that MS is in charge --- Do you think God stays in heaven because he, too, lives in fear of what he's created? ... I very much agree. I actually got the full achievement score in the game in just a few days, so obviously I played the fuck out of it. It scratched an itch that no one else seems willing to scratch nowadays and they honestly did a lot of things right. In the end it was just a good game though, not a great game. Would have been nice to see what they could have done with a bigger team and bigger budget.

Isn't Cyberpunk more of a Deus Ex game than a Fallout one? No clue, I haven't actually looked that much into it. I also haven't played The Witcher series, although I did buy the third one on a sale. I just see it brought up a lot whenever people are discussing games in a similar vein. --- "We know things can move faster than the speed of light because liberal tears are on the ground before something offensive even happens" - Coffeebeanz ... Open Critic only has it at an 8.5. So it's not like it is SUPER inflated.

Not trying to be a jerk but I was bored by the time I got to the space station. Game is fine, just didn't draw me in like other obsidian games.

It's a good game. I like the writing and the characters are rich.
It just felt too gamey from the start. Even though it did alot of things Bethesda tries to do better than Bethesda, it felt like a half-measure of what the game could have been. It felt like the devs wanted the game to feel more polished, which it was at the cost of lack of depth. Also for a CRPG it felt far to linear. This was a weak year overall for games This I actually disagree with. Sekiro, RE2make and Outer Worlds were among my most memorable games of the last couple of years. --- "He busted in, blessed be the Lord Who believe any mess they read up on a message board" -MF DOOM ... Copied to Clipboard!
