Kind of anyway. At least I don't understand why people want action based games to be challenging. Anything that requires good reaction skills or reflexes is a complete no from me, even though I enjoy games involving action. Turn based games and anything involving puzzles or strategy where you're not rushed I completely understand the desire for a challenge. The other kind of challenge where you have to think fast or requires timing just seems like hard work and stress. How is it fun?

People want different things out of games. Even if you have poor reflexes/reaction times and therefore don't like games that require good reflexes or reaction times, that's not the case for everyone.

I don't really like to just steamroll games, personally.

It is exciting and rewarding. Some people like walks through the park. Some like hiking. Some like scaling mount everest.

It's fun having to outsmart your enemies.

I feel like playing games om easy is the same as throwing a ball againt a wall by myself. Sure I can do it it I'm bored, but it's not fun. When you up the difficulty by playing with someone more experienced it teaches you something.

Different people play games for different reasons. Personally I play games for relaxation and escapism, and that's part of why I love open world games. I don't play online games because the competitive aspect doesn't appeal to me. For other people, that's the only reason to play games. It's the same with super hard stuff.

It's weird when these things clash though. For instance I really liked Hollow Knight because it had great world-building and was fun to explore. I absolutely did not like how hard the bosses were.

I don't have good reactions or reflexes really. If you put me in Dark Souls I'll probably block most of the time. In a shooter I'll die first.

But some games just click with me. Nioh is perfect since the controls are so well done. On the other hand Dark Souls 1-3 and bloodborne seem janky and badly made with the no scope 360 grabs and hitboxes that are completely terrible.

Some games that are pure reaction based and require memorization like the Ikaruga series I could never enjoy. But some shooters like Payday 2 I enjoy on difficulties less than the top two hardest if I build my character to enjoy it.

I'm on the opposite end. I don't understand the appeal of playing action games that you can just breeze through with no real threat. I get nothing from shooting down enemies that seem helpless.

I liked more challenge when I was younger because I had the time to put in the effort to be/get better. I dont so much as Ive gotten older and have more responsibilities.

I think its why ive been playing Warframe for over a year exclusively. Its such a large game, theres so much to do, and they keep adding content. It doesnt matter that Ill never have the skill for the high level content. Theres such a large scale variety of challenges that almost anyone can find some part of it they enjoy and still have tons of content to enjoy.

Because this new age millenial genre of games are too easy to the point of boredom after playing and mastering games like ninja gaiden. At this point, might as well just watch a movie

I need to be challenged to be interested. I bore easily. Dark Souls and CoD (mainly Hardcore search and destroy) are some of my favorite games to play
