Possible spoilers for Episode 9, but the whole scene in the hut between Luke and Ben/Kylo makes sense if Palpatine is Snoke/Controlling Snoke, thus Luke's 'feeling of dread' is sensing Sidious and the possible PTSD from that

I honestly thought Luke was great in TLJ. Saber throwing and everything. You just have to have a sense of humor about it.

For two years, audiences had been sitting there on that scene and he ruins it in the most anticlimactic way possible. How can you not love that? It's like reading an epic story and then all the sudden it ends on a punchline. coughnatethesnakecough

I honestly don't get why people got into a frenzy over Luke.

Like yeah, he may not have been what people really expected from Luke, but at the same time like 30 years passed between RotJ and TLJ. Dude's been through some shit. He's old, he's bitter, he's tired of Jedi and Sith bullshit and Force users fucking over the galaxy. It's like he spent too much time around Kreia.

This. He tried to rebuild the Jedi order and that blew up in his face. He stopped the Empire, that blew up in his face. He gave it his absolute best to make the galaxy a better place with peace and love and it's worse off than ever and he feels responsible for it so he said fuck it. I loved his character in TLJ. And the scene where Yoda shows up and says "you're right, this Jedi stuff is bullshit. Just be a good person" was great.

And the real lesson is; Never try.

It's a large part of why I gave the new trilogy a complete pass, just comes off pessimistic while making the original trilogy seem pointless.

Folks who didn't like what we got are open to lots of other possibilities, but you don't have to bother with that if you have strawmen to whack.

I imagine if Episode X opened with Rey being a drug addicted delivery pilot people would complain and not just go "Well uhh people like change over Decades"
