I feel like absolutely no one agrees with me :(

Lots of people like the original.
Most people like Empire.

Some hipsters defend the prequels.

And lots of people love the new wave of movies. (Which I haven't seen so no comment)

But is anyone else in my Jedi boat? Lots of people hate it for being "Dumb" but in my opinion Star Wars is dumb, it's a really dumb Sci-Fi Space Oprea Western Romp of nonsense and Jedi embracing it is why it's the most fun movie.

Empire has no real start and no real end and the prequels are awful.

A New Hope is good but just less fun than Jedi.

RotJ is my personal favorite as well, but I recognize ESB as being a better movie.

No it's not

They don't even turn up until the 3rd act.

And they're fine. Never got the hate for them. It's not like Jar Jar who takes up screen time and plot.

They go to the Ewok planet for plot reasons, and the native primative race are hostile, then befriended and aid in the final battle. Which all consists of great scenes.

Sure if Wicket was wisecracking in every scene I'd get the hate but that just didn't happen.

The Emperor literally describes the Stormtroopers at Endor as the best he has.

They then get dunked on by tiny bears using rocks and falling trees.

Yeah it's hard to take that episode of Mandalorian seriously when you knew how one sided the Ewoks stomped the AT-ST's themselves.

My biggest problem with ROTJ is how little it does. The other 2 OT movies were legitimately great, groundbreaking movies. ROTJ feels like a cast reunion where everybody seems tired of the material, and it relies too much on rehashing earlier material and a has a questionable resolution to the Luke/Leia/Han triangle. It's way more wobbly than the first two but it's still Star Wars so it's enjoyable

Yeah?

Because they are attacking them on their turf in what wasn't a planned invasion. It makes sense that the Ewoks fight back.

And still would have ultimately won if not for Luke. The entire battle was a diversion. The alliance to turn off the generator and the Sith to trick the alliance into thinking they have the upper hand then zapping them with the Death Star.

It's basically a microcosm of the Winter War between Finland and the USSR in WW2. Having better tech, better trained soldiers, more weaponry and 800 times the man power doesn't mean you can just walk into someone's backyard and steamroll them.

The Luke/Leia/Han thing is not really a problem anymore because it has become lore. It's like the bible, it is what it is

lol at comparing the tech difference between two countries in WW2 to the tech difference between a space faring galactic empire to a tribal culture of bears.

If Europeans first stepped on to American soil armed with modern rifles, flak armor, and night vision goggles, then yeah, I'd expect the natives to get annihilated, homefield advantage or no.

It is absolutely ridiculous that the Ewoks can even put up a fight, whether the fight was overly consequential or not doesn't matter.

The only two Star Wars movies, if someone was like "hey, let's watch Ep. ___", that I'd be happy to watch are Phantom Menace (for nostalgia) and ESB (as the only actual good SW movie).

80% of RotJ is a great movie, but the ewoks ruin a huge portion of the climactic battle. I love the episode of The Mandalorian with an AT-ST just brutalizing a path through a forest, ripping trees right out of the ground with raw power and weight. None of those weird log attacks in RotJ should have had even the slightest impact on a heavy-metal state-of-the-art walking tank. Ewoks were a mistake and they took a lot of the gravitas away from the film. People complain about Poe, the wisecracking member of the team, making wisecracks in TLJ, but Ewoks are the most childish thing to exist in the OT or ST. Obviously Jar Jar is the MOST childish thing, but that's what Ewoks are--the Jar Jar of the OT.

I agree. I think its the most fun of the Star Wars all the way through. The Ewoks dont bother me at all and Lukes character is the best in it.

It was my favorite and most watched growing up. Maybe now Empire is my favorite, but I still love ROTJ as well. I go back and forth between the two. I put both over ANH. The ewoks never bothered me that much and all the good stuff in the movie well makes up for the flaws. The final space battle and Luke/Vader/Palpatine are just so good. I feel like a lot of the flack it gets is more recent. I never have seen as much criticism and hate towards it for the longest time.
