Yeah as someone who is a massive witcher 3 fan. This series is set a long time before it.

I recognise a short story from the first book in the first episode. Books are almost always better than movies and TV shows. But you can always go back to read them if you enjoy the show.

I say go for it.

I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth

From what ive seen on here, a lot of people who have never played the games or read the books seem to enjoy it a lot.

Also its different enough from the books that youll be able to enjoy them if you decide to read them some day.

You will get lost regardless, but if you can stick with it, the show is really good imo.

Plus the games take place 5 years after the books and the show follows the books.

Also when watching it, keep in mind that Geralt's and Yennefer's storylines are mostly set in the past and Ciri's is in the present. The show doesn't tell you this and you sort of have to figure this on your own, but I'm telling you this because it may make watching the show a bit easier as it jumps a lot. It's not spoilers, and the stories all catch up in the end.

Just go in understanding that Geralt and Yens stories are taking place before Ciris and they are "catching up" to her story throughout the season and you'll be fine.

This becomes apparent by episode 3 but I saw some people that felt they needed to rewatch those episodes after they figured it out.

It's not meant to be a twist it's just how they do it.

Give it a couple episodes, the first one's a little slow but it gets better.

It's kind of funny, first time watching a show based on a book series I read and so I know what things are and it feels cool >_>

You're probably not gonna appreciate the show nearly as much as someone who's played the games or read the books since it doesn't do a good job of explaining the lore.
