I want to play through all the Kingdom Hearts shit before moving on to 3, because I want to fully understand and appreciate this convoluted story.

Yet now after last night finishing Birth by Sleep Final Episode and then watching the Re:Coded movie, I feel like it's all just nonsense.

The games really are just repeating the same things over and over and over again.

Recoded was just like well Jiminy's journals are blank, so let's send a digital Sora to do it all over again, and then oh yeah we're all digital too... but ultimately I have no idea what the point of it was.

I just started Dream Drop Distance now and we're back on Destiny Island and young Sora and Riku are talking about building a raft again. It's like Groundhog Day dude, I just keep playing the same things over and over across 10 games!

I like how its literally a 3rd retelling of Kingdom Hearts 1 lol

It's cheaper tc, so they don't have to make new environments. They just reuse the same assets again and again. Why do you think agrabah world is in literally every game?

Ha well that's good to know. Why did they bother making Coded into a movie then? I would have rather played it. 358/2 Days at least made sense as a movie if they didn't want to remaster the game because there's a lot of original story there and it's how we learn everything about the Organization.

Look man, someone should have warned you. Re: Coded is 99.9% nothing and 0.1% something that kind of comes back into play with III.

Story wise it's the worst in the series. It actually played pretty good though.

And don't you worry! Dream Drop Distances goes places! Does it ever! That one matters an insane amount lol. Did hate Sora looking young again in that one though.

Remaking a DS game would have been a huge process. DDD for 3DS probably took a lot less work. The movie really didn't need to exist, but it's there for completionist sake I feel, which I like.

Also you'll be disappointed with Union X Backcover movie thing, but that is still more important overall. Should also watch/play/just watch the Union X game cutscenes first.

But hey Fragment Passage is real good.

i feel like it was a time constraint type thing. Like they didnt wanna take many resources away from making KHIII, and they had already done one movie in 1.5 and you would have to do a more extensive remake with a DS game than a PSP and PS2 game

still, doesnt make the movie any better

I think I enjoyed Union X Backcover more than any of the others. It helps that it's a single story without any of the convoluted Xehanort bullshit.

I am not Xehanort! My name is... Ansem!

Of course it is. Everyone is Ansem and everyone is Xehanort and everyone is Riku and Sora and Namine and Kairi and Roxas and Venmas and Terra and Aqua. They are all Xehanort. We are Xehanort.

To expand on this It all starts with Xehanort, who isn't Xehanort yet, but Ansem. A year after Ansem is defeated it is revealed it wasn't Ansem at all, but Xehanort. A new enemy is revealed in Mansex...I mean Xemnas, but shockingly enough Fake Ansem and Xemnas are Xehanort! Xehanort lost his heart 10 years prior and was split into a heartless and a nobody and Fake Ansem stole his Master's name as his own. Xemnas is then defeated and peace is restored!....or is it?

We are then introduced to Master Xehanort, who is old. He seeks a balance between darkness and light and using his disciple Not Sora, seeks the X-Blade to unlock Kingdom Hearts! Oh no! Eventually Old Man Xehanort possesses the heart of Terra, who is revealed to be Fake Ansem and Mansex! Terra himself becomes Come Guardian, who protects Fake Ansem from injury. But then, the unexpected occurs! Fake Ansem travels back in time to tell Young Xehanort about his destiny. This means the time has come to make everyone Xehanort, even Fake Ansem, Mansex, and Not Sora! It is then revealed Xehanorts master plan was to destroy the dark.esz, despite using said darkness to destroy worlds and lives. One by one the Not Xehanorts are defeated, each one showing remorse except Not Sora, who says "I am Darkness.", Young Xehanort who says "Fuck you Sora, you ded lulz" and Xigbar, who is actually Braig, who is actually Luxu who carries hish Master's eye so he sees everything. Afterwards Xehanort becomes a kid again and goes to Heart Heaven with his buddy Eraqus, which Xehanort killed.

Well I ain't reading those spoilers

But yeah DDD is crazy. Lots of gameplay changes that make it more interesting and more difficult. My usual strategy of mashing X really isn't working. The big guys fuck me up when I try that, so I need to keep doing the Flowmotion moves. And then the whole "drop" thing between Sora and Riku is really weird and adds this timed element to it. There's a lot to get used to.

Are these people in Traverse Town from The World Ends With You? I've never played it but the main guy seems familiar.

the opening of DDD is pretty overwhelming but by the time you get to the first disney area it gets a lot more comfortable

Fun fact: DDD apparently contains massive spoilers for TWEWY.

And the Flowmotion allows you to break the platforming pretty easily because it lets you infinitely wall-jump. On the other hand, there's one boss later on that you basically have to turn it off on because the walls are so fucking close that you constantly end up rolling into something and going into Flowmotion.

It definitely flew over my head, mostly because DDD is so casual with it that I figured it was just background information. It's not the kind of thing you'd necessarily forget though, so you'd probably remember it if you played TWEWY second.

I guess it helps that Traverse Town's plot is so fucking confusing and convoluted, even by this game's standards, that you'd probably have no idea what was happening. It makes you realize how little sense some KH worlds make if you're not familiar with the source material.
