Unless you know the exact size of a person, I don't really get it. I feel like clothes are very personal. You probably won't like the fit or style.

In the instance of winter weather, everyone should appreciate a new coat/gloves/jacket/sweater.

For regular shirts I understand, but the thought still counts.

Also I remember a big part of adolescence for my peers and I was realizing how great of a gift new socks are. Kids won't appreciate them but adults should. Just a nice convenience that should definitely get used IMO and makes more sense than a card (with no money in it at that!).
