Current Events > Help me identify this huge chirping creature in my kitchen

I started hearing it yesterday morning. At first I thought it was something wrong with my furnace. A broken part or something idk. I came home from work tonight to the same sound. Rapid chirping. But the more I listened to it the more it sounded like it was in my kitchen cupboards. So I open them up expecting something to pop out. Nothing. But the sound stops for a few moments when I slammed one of the cupboards, and then it resumed a few moments later.

I slam one of the cupboards a few more times, which is when I saw some huge fucking legs or antennae peek out from a gap in my ceiling. Like bigger than any kind of insect we get here where I live.

After that I recorded a video of the sound but idk where to upload it. Its nothing special, just the chirping and the sound of my horrendous mouthbreathing because Im really sick and needed all my willpower to keep from coughing. Im half tempted to use a squirt bottle to shoot whatever is in that gap but I also dont want to battle a fucking giant monster bug.

I squirted the fuck out of his hidey hole with soapy water but I didnt see him. Hes not chirping now though.

Could be a spider cricket.

Use to see those a lot as a youngin.

Some got pretty big too.

I think Ive trained him. I stood in the kitchen and sprayed every time he tried chirping. Hes quiet now. Maybe I can teach him fetch, roll over, or die in a fire next.

Darken the room and quietly wait awhile.

Maybe it will then come out and you'd see what it is.

The weird thing is that its super cold and snowy outside. They would have had to trek through the snow to get into my window, and then hop to the kitchen.

Well no. They hang out underground and hibernate in the Winter. Thing probably burrowed into your house.
