You don't even have to be smart or hard working to graduate highschool, you just can't be completely incompetent. Even if you are completely incompetent, if you just show up, chances are you'll graduation. HS degree gets you nothing in life.

Same with college tbh. College is even easier to graduate, you literally just show up and do some minimal studying and you'll do enough to pass and get a degree, especially if its a joke degree at a joke college. It literally gets you nothing.

Setting aside whether it's an accomplishment, it's a fairly momentous life event that will bring about a lot of changes.

Big life event that represents the culmination of years of work. It might not be that difficult, but it's still important.

If you get into a great college then yes, otherwise no.

Exactly my point. I never learned english properly, all my grammar is from years of AIM and gamefaqs. Yet I still graduated. I'm sure this post has tons of errors including misplaced commas, incomplete sentences, etc.

Even if you don't get into any college, it's still the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in your life

What are you celebrating, being unemployed, homeless / or still living with parents? Getting a job at taco bell?

I never understood y people celebrate professional teams winning

You don't even have to be smart or hard working to watch your team win you just can't be completely incompetent. Even if you are completely incompetent, if you just show up, chances are you'll watch your team win. W's get you nothing in life.

Same with the Olympics tbqh. The olympics are even easier to win, you literally just show up and do some minimal jelqing and you'll do enough to win and get a medal, especially if its a joke sport at a joke event. It literally gets you nothing.

I feel the same way, not gonna lie. But people enjoy the festivities of it and they like to feel accomplished for themselves, and family and friends. So I just go with it.

It's a ritual. People love their rituals and have loved them throughout history.

For the same reason we celebrate sweet 16s, baby showers, marriage, retirement parties, and birthdays in general.

If you really want to question a celebration, why do we celebrate an anniversary of your birth? Is living a year really an accomplishment? How about a 21st birthday celebration? Celebrating being able to drink when you have likely already been doing it for years.

From an anthropologic standpoint, celebrations are a way we connect with other humans. These are shared experiences that remind us we are not so different from each other. It's less about what you are celebrating and more about the people there to experience it with.

You think college was easier than high school? The hell was your degree in??
College wasn't particularly difficult for me to pass but it definitely had high school beat. I feel like you were at least expected to have some semblance of critical thinking skills.
That said, I know some idiots who managed to cram and pass college after a few attempts and now they're just idiots with degrees. Plus I'm treated like some kind of super genius at work even though I feel like I just know the shit we were supposed to in order to get our degrees..so idk.

My HS was ultra competitive, top 10 public school in California. My uni was uc Davis and my degree was biochem and molecular biology, which was the 3rd toughest major in the school, 1 and 2 are electrical engineering/computer science combo and 2 was biochemical engineering. Graduated both with 3.5s.

Despite all that if I didn't go to grad school, I'd have been a minimum wage lab tech
