Orlando had a nice airport when I lived there (back in the 90s) Is the hotel still in the airport?

Been to a lot of airports. SFO. Cincinnati, Atlanta, Phoenix, Vegas and Sydney are nice.

I flat out refuse to go through dfw now. I've lost track of how many times I've got stuck there in the winter.

Not much better through IAH. I remember getting stuck and the absolute shitshow that was 300+ angry passengers and like 3 customer service agents.

I like both T.F. Green and Long Beach for the same reason, they're smaller and easy to get around.

Anyone ever been to Denver? That shit is legit weird and straight up some Illuminati type of shit.

Ya, it was a bit odd when my wife and I were there.

Toronto's international lounge was sweet. Heathrow was also really nice.

Every airport I've ever been to:

  • Albany, NY
  • Philadelphia
  • Charlotte
  • Tampa
  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Orlando
  • JFK
  • LaGuardia
  • Milwaukee
  • Washington-Dulles
  • Washington - Reagan/National
  • McCarran (Las Vegas)
  • San Francisco
  • Dallas Fort Worth
  • St. Louis - Lambert
  • Chicago-O'Hare
  • Sangster International (Jamaica)
  • Whatever the Bahamas one is

St. Louis was absolute garbage when I went there, serious third world stuff. LaGuardia is stuck in the 90s but at least they're rebuilding it. O'Hare is a large LaGuardia - stuck in the 90s and delays. Albany and Tampa I was too young to remember. Charlotte and Philly I've only been to through connecting flights. Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale I wasn't paying attention.

Dulles has a cool head house and decent offerings but it's a pain in the ass to get to (no mass transit) and the two concourses are only accessible via tram. And once you're there, you're there.

Washington-National is really easy to get to but also kinda smushed. I try and fly out of there when possible though.

JFK really depends on what airline you're flying. Some of the terminals (especially jetBlue's) are really nice, others not so much.

DFW I have to walk in a semicircle to get anywhere.

McCarran I've been to twice and have no problems with, SFO once. Milwaukee once.

So overall I'd say McCarran or Milwaukee.

I've been to all of these ones ranked best to worst

Flughafen Mnchen (MUC)
Incheon International Airport (ICN)
Aeroporto Internazionale di RomaFiumicino (FCO)
Aroport de Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG)
Austin Bergstrom International (AUS)
San Fransisco International (SFO)
Seattle Tacoma International (SEA)
Flughafen Frankfurt am Main (FRA)
Newark Liberty International (EWR)
Washington Dulles International (IAD)
Dallas International (DFW)
Boston Logan International (BOS)
Denver International (DEN)
Houston Bush Intercontinental (IAH)
Aeroporto di Venezia-Marco Polo (VCE)
Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ)
Chicago O'Hare (ORD)

It baffles me that O'Hare is a large hub to many airlines and yet be one of the most frustrating airports to exist.

Despite all the hate O'Hare gets, it is one of the best airports for food/bar options IMO.

Great thread. I find airports endlessly fascinating, and comforting too.

When I went to Singapore, I stayed overnight at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) upon landing late, instead of paying for an extra hotel night. I'd totally do that again. Simultaneously binging "Super Mario Odyssey" and white coffee from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was a magical experience. That gets my vote for favorite airport.

I'll go against the grain and say that I really love Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) too. It gets a bad rap because of flight delays, and I've been on the receiving end of that. But my God, you have Cousins BBQ and La Creme Coffee in the same airport. That has to count for something. And the whole facility is just so damn pleasing aesthetically.

Some other highlights:

-Anchorage (ANC) styles its overhead lights after the Northern Lights, and it's beautiful at night. You can also get reindeer sausage there, and that's one of those foods you have to eat before you die.

-Bozeman (BZN) has fireplaces on the landside, and is impeccably clean all around. This airport immediately puts you at ease, whether you're coming or going.

-Salt Lake City (SLC) is great about keeping amenities open for late-night travelers, and the workers are friendly and efficient too.

On the flipside, I'm not too crazy about Charlotte (CLT) or Houston George Bush Int'l (IAH) - I try to avoid those if possible. But of course, I'll gladly take those layovers if the price is right for the flight.

John Wayne Airport, Santa Anna - it's basically a mall. They even have a Hot Topic and a Spencer's Gifts. Also, everything is affordable at standard prices which makes no sense because Orange County is the richest part of LA.

Really? Not saying your lying or anything, but I actually spent some time living in Waikiki and the Honolulu airport always seemed drab to me considering where it was.

I dunno, haven't been back to Oahu since I was 12, so maybe they renovated, but when I was a kid it was pretty garbage.

I agree it's not the cleanest and newest,I just spent so much time there working that it grew on me.And I spent a lot of time in the Japanese garden with the exotic fish.Much cleaner airports imo too.

Bristol Airport might not be the poshest airport I've been in, but it is the one where the staff were kindest to me. I had a broken foot and they made so many accommodations for me that I was genuinely shocked at their level of customer service.

Im going the other way, I didnt like how it looked or how it made me feel to be inside. It has a really low ceiling compared to other airports that Ive been to. Im glad my flight was on time, so I didnt have stay too long.

The TSA line moved at a good pace, so DFW has that going for it.

MCO but that's only because that's out of the only 3 airports I've been to (JFK and LAX are the other 2)

I do love how the terminal is seperated by a monorail and the food court has variety compared to the other 2.

I do remember Terminal C having an unusually low ceiling and feeling much older. I've had much better experiences in the other terminals, though, especially D (the fancy int'l terminal) and E (super quiet and recently renovated).
