Himself in the snap?
Was there a 50% chance he would die? On one hand not including anyone defeats the point of random fairness and makes him a hypocrite. On the other hand If he dies then any slack jawed idiot still around could use the gauntlet to undo his work. Plus hes evil so him being a hypocrite adds up. On the other other hand (I have 3 hands) hes one of the stupidest characters in all fiction In terms of his plan so he might literally have not thought about the risk of himself dying. --- ... Although it hasn't been established in the work or by any of the writers, I have my own take.
No he didn't. From a pragmatic standpoint, it's because the work wasn't done until he used the Stones to destroy the Stones so his work could never be undone. From a narrative standpoint, it's because he needs his "grateful universe". He needs to know he won. His arrogance is one of his extreme failings. --- CyricZ ... Copied to Clipboard!

I think his reaction to the aftermath implies that he did: he seems to look himself over, surprised to still be whole. I think that Thanos did actually believe his quasi-egalitarian rhetoric.

I think this was another thing where the writers said he didn't include himself but the directors did. Feige said it IIRC. Which is kinda stupid because it makes Dr. Strange's probability analysis kinda silly. He said, when he gave his solution to the titans, that he would be included in the 50/50 cull. So I don't see why that wouldn't keep that up when he scaled up to universe level
I think the more interesting question is how he defined randomness. Did each planetary body and its expatriats have a 50/50 shot in the context of just that place? Or was it a universal set? The nature of randomness would imply many 'lumpy' outcomes where almost all or none of the population is extinguished on individual planets. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

i thought he did which is why ant-man just stares into the trees with birds and stuff after the re-snap and thinks it worked. It definitely did. In the opening with Hawkeye's family, the sounds of things like crickets are pretty prominent, then they fade out when the snap happens.
