If Rey hadn't called herself a Skywalker at the end, I would have loved it

Since then the title would have referred to Ben Solo and that would have been amazing, he being the badass he is in this film

Also how does Rey eliminating palpy and the sith bring balance to the force exactly?

Now isn't it light side dominant?

IIRC the explanation is that the dark side is a perversion of the force, and that the light side is how it is supposed to be.

But then everything wouldn't be about Rey, can't share the spotlight.

Luke should have taken the Kenobi name when he realized his birth name represented evil.

They pushed Finn really hard for him to end up being super generic and useless mostly.

Didn't get the girl
Didn't get his own lightsaber
Wasn't that great of a pilot or mechanic

He was a square peg shoved into the round "hero" hole

I'm probably giving Abrams too much credit, but I feel like if TFA got a real sequel Finn would've actually been an important character.

Yeah I think if Finn had met those other deserters in a second movie that could have turned into something pretty interesting by the end of the story.

That and Ben dying to bring Rey back to life was pretty dumb

Other than those it was mostly good aside from how rushed a lot of it was

Also why did kylo and leia's bodies just vanish into thin air?

For the same reason Obi wan's body did so in A New Hope

It should have been split into 2 movies or have a different plot altogether.

that seems like an utter perversion of the taoistic dynamic of the previous trilogies, especially the prequels

i wonder if lucasfilm's new management was responsible for this treachery

Nope, that's all Lucas. The Dark Side is a cancer in the Force.

He didn't rise though

What else would you call it when someone who's teetering on the dark side returns to the light?

Is it fair to consider Kylo a Skywalker? Its his mothers maiden name even though she never used it

Nah, that was Lucas's intention from the very beginning. The prequels were specifically "Anakin went against the prophecy" instead of "him bringing balance to the Force meant he joins the dark side." At least I don't trust Lucas to be self-aware enough in his writing for that.

You just used it: return. If it was called The Return of Skywalker you'd have been onto something there.

Why can't it be both?

16-BITTER posted...
And Rey was the one who was teetering, Kylo was full-on dark side for like 80% of the ST

He was teetering for a good portion of TFA, with the whole "I know what I must do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it"
