Two people are dead and another person is in critical condition Sunday after a shooting at a church in White Settlement, Texas.
Police responded to the reports of a shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ during a Sunday morning service, authorities said. White Settlement Police Chief J.P. Bevering said Sunday that the suspect was killed shortly after he began shooting as members of the congregation inside fired back at the gunman.

"Tragically, the person shot by the suspect died at a local hospital and a second parishioner has life-threatening injuries," Bevering said.
The Forth Worth Police Department told NBC News that the department was assisting the local authorities.
Sgt. Christopher Daniels from Fort Worth said that a video of the service was streamed online earlier Sunday, which may have documented the shooter's attack, but that it was removed from YouTube.
Minister Britt Farmer also confirmed the videos existence to NBC News. Farmer said that he was inside at the time of the shooting and is distraught over the attack.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the shooting an "evil act of violence" in a statement released Sunday afternoon.
"Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life," Abbott said.
White Settlement is a suburb about 15 minutes west of downtown Fort Worth.
White Settlement received its name in the 1800s by Native Americans after non-Indigenous families began to settle in the area, according to the city's website.

seems like the shooter is one of the two dead, after shooting two people (one who died and one who's in critical condition)

and I know people like to joke about Texans and their guns, but armed church goers were able to stop the shooter before the attack potentially got worse

Not everyone, but yeah most here glorify guns. The government is in bed with the NRA so shit is never going to actually ever get done about it. Hell, their true sentiment that is probably hidden from the public is that they consider the innocent, unfortunate people hurt or killed in these mass shootings "necessary sacrifices" or even their deaths via guns as a sort of "population control" for the long term. A lot of humanity is so fucked up.

In that same 2012 document, Glasgow-Voegel said Kinnunen showed up at her home in October 2011 unannounced, with no money or vehicle, asking to see his son. She said she got him a trailer and a job and that he quit the job, assaulted a man in Tuttle, Oklahoma, and was in the county jail. She said their 15-year-old son was "terrified" of his father and that he threatened her should she try to keep them apart.

In the protective order, the woman said her son was visiting his father when he set several fires around Tuttle and that her son recorded the arson but didn't saying anything out of fear of retaliation. An arrest warrant affidavit filed in December 2011, that included a statement from his teenage son, said Kinnunen set a cotton field on fire using lamp oil, tampons and a lighter. His son also said his father liked to play "fire football," where he soaked a football in a flammable liquid, lit the ball on fire and then they'd toss it back and forth. The teen told police he thought it was unsafe but that he was "afraid he might get mad at me if I asked to stop."
