Did you buy your bird online? From a breeder? From a petstore?

How long did it take the bird to actually start liking you?

depends on the bird, me and jo have 3 green cheek conures. 2 from breeders (different ones) and 1 from a pet store

would recommend getting from a breeder (do your homework, ask the right questions, check reviews, etc) -- getting them from a breeder is often a far better result because the ones from pet stores usually come from bird mills where they aren't properly cared for and could be more prone to coming home with some disease that is still bubbling beneath the surface

I had some before and got them from a petstore that was very local. It's takes awhile before they get use to you and their surroundings.

I had one die and right before he did I pet him and tried to make him comfortable. He wasn't doing well and just fell and collapsed on the bottom of the cage. They are pretty hard to take care of in cold weather.

I had a cockatiel that my neighbor found that was lost and kind of sick. He was older and probably had a bad owner, he never seemed to warm up to humans. Could not feed by hand or touch the bird, it was very skittish and distrusting. When it came to just basic interactions though, he liked to whistle and click back when you did. That makes me believe he indeed have a bad owner before, as he associates hands with danger. So we took care of him for a year or so until he was well enough and healthy, and then released him.

Are your green cheeks loud?

I'm looking at cockatiels and conures right now. I fell in love with a Sun Conure at a store but he was loud af. I don't mean little chirps here and there, those don't bother me. This bird was SCREAMING. But he was very cuddly and loved scritches.

I'll start checking for breeders. I'm still curious if online would be a good option.

Yeah it was pretty horrible, but at least he wasn't alone before his passing.

they can be yeah, but son conures are louder than green cheek conures

you can buy them online through a breeder but expect to pay over 200 in shipping if you aren't gonna pick it up and/or don't have one close enough to you
