And then in the next film the galaxy doesnt gaf anymore for no apparent reason and it takes a lando who looks and acts like he did his scenes in front of a green screen in the retirement home to inspire the whole galaxy (off screen!) again LOL

This is why you shouldn't let a guy hijack the middle of a trilogy from someone else. JJ should have made all 3 movies

Anybody who thinks Rian is the problem is hilarious. TLJ wasn't great but at least it setup for a very interesting ending surrounding Kylo and Rey's dynamic. But of course, JJ couldn't be confident in his own actors, his own characters that he created, so he had to write two stories in one by forcing the Emperor back in a way that is impressively worse than Dark Empire lmao

Sure and they would've all been remakes of the original trilogy. Hooray!

You say this, and then you completely miss the point of the scene that you described. "It's not a navy. It's just...people."

Luke inspired them, Lando sent the call to action. They responded this time, even though they didn't last time.

But the whole point of the final scenes in TLJ was to show that regular people were inspired rather than any navy.

Seems weird imo that all the people complaining about plot points being 'abandoned' don't care about this in any case lmao

Luke wasn't the chosen one.

Just the one left continue after his father purged everything.

..............Exactly. Hence the line that I quoted. Did you think that line didn't have any purpose? It ties directly into the ending of TLJ.

It's never suggested there's any continuation between that and ROS though. It's literally back to square 1 again and needing to galvanise the wider galactic public to fight back. Only this time it's done in the most shonen way possible lmao

??????????

People keep acting like TLJ doesn't exist. Episode IX all but spells out the sequence of events. Poe mentions in RoS that nobody came to help at the battle of Crait (the end of TLJ), yet people came to the battle at the end of RoS.

Maybe something significant happened between the start of that battle and this one. Maybe. Hmm. I wonder what event that might have been. Maybe it involved Luke?

....Which is why I'm so confused.

I'm saying that situation A (nobody showed up at Crait) leads into situation B (Luke arrives, stalls for time, the Resistance escapes and spreads the word across the galaxy), which leads into situation C (the next time the call to action goes out, people respond because Luke inspired them.)

These events are directly related and I don't know why you're suggesting otherwise.

ROS itself makes them feel disconnected whereas a competent director/writing team would have more deftly navigated that. I'd also argue that the ending of TLJ negates the need for people to be roused into action again and resorting to that shows a lack of imagination. Let people take action organically, not by Lando apparently charming them into it.

The end of TLJ showed the start of the inspiration. RoS showed the final result. It's not nearly as disconnected as you're saying it is. The resistance had regained some of its losses at the start of RoS...remember, at the end of TLJ they had nothing but the Millennium Falcon and a handful of people.

The movie doesn't directly spell out every single thing that happened in the galaxy, but the implication is pretty clear if you regard it as a trilogy and not three separate movies as some people tend to do.
