It happened in California where 2 men in masks went into the coffee shop to steal the laptop as they planned a getaway in advance. He was celebrating his 34 y/o birthday and lived a mile and a half from the Oakland Starbucks as friends had been looking forward to celebrating both New Years and his birthday on the same day he died. He was from China who completed a degree at Kansas State in 2015 His devastated parents are flying in from China to their ONLY SON as he did not have a family of his own yet. A cousin who is living in New York is also making their way there. He moved to the Bay Area in 2015 to work as a research scientist and engineer for Aspera, an IBM company He's an avid photographerand hiker who enjoyed photography Friends and neighbors said he was a "really bright guy" who was happy being in America and enjoying life and that he was a brave young man to attempt to get his property back Julie, who witnessed it said they were sitting next to Zeng as he worked on his laptop when one masked man held a door open and the other walked right by Zeng and swiped the laptop as they exited the store. She then said Zeng chased the men and to their SUV where he DIVED at the window, almost FULL BODIED before he was pushed out of the vehicle and he hit his head on a parked car and died. She said it was almost "superman" like when he dived horizontally into the vehicle.. Zeng was found dead on the sidewalk as people described his face was all bloodied and turned blue/purple.. Dailymail was told 2 men were arrested for the death but have not released the names. Police are warning the public NOT to pursue people who have stolen their property as you never know what could happen and that your life is not worth property that can be replaced.
