Freshman year, yes.

After that, my buddies and I always left campus for lunch hour except even in inclement weather if memory serves.

Hell no. We had a 36 minute off campus lunch

We didn't have cafeterias. We have little lunch shops for teens that have money instead of parents that care about what they ingest.

The lines were fucking ridiculous at my school. Got to a point where they introduced ordering off an app only because so many kids complained that if you didn't line up within a minute of the lunch bell going off, you weren't going to get anything worth eating that day.

But either way my answer was no. I opted to try this lunch shop for a year but the issue of "If I'm not early enough I'll starve all throughout my last two lessons" was a Risk I didn't want to take into the next years.

My mind is blown. I didn't realize leaving campus for lunch was a thing. In my high school we couldn't leave, just thought it was that way everywhere.

Nah, I only ate lunch in high school when vendors like papa johns or chick filet would show up

I didn't eat much in high school, actually.

No time for breakfast, and I would skip lunch for different reasons.

I was still fat though; I never understood that.

You guys went to some interesting high schools. I dunno if it's a spacial thing or a temporal thing but when I was in high school, your options were:

Square pizza (seriously, every day)
The other option of the day
Sack lunch

I ate cafeteria lunch until my friends and I were old enough to drive. We weren't allowed to leave school grounds for lunch, but a lot of people did it anyway

You used to be able to go off campus for lunch, but of course some assholes ruined it for everyone so they cut that.

Cafeteria food honestly wasn't that bad though. If you didn't feel like their main lunch you could go in the "express" line where every day it was literally fries and Papa Johns (you had to pay for each slice though). Some people ate that every single day and it blew my mind. I might get it once every other week
