....off Lando, Chewie, R2D2 and C3PO aboard the Millenium Falcon. The whole ship blows up with them inside (destroyed by Palpatine's lightning).

However test audiences reacted poorly to it. So they removed it in the final cuts.

Just another reminder that this trilogy made it a point to cleanse everything from the OT so all that's left are the new (shitty) characters. Pathetic and sad.

I remember myself and the theater going WTF when Chewie blew up in that cargo ship and then groaned again when it turned out to be a bullshit fakeout 4 mins later.

And like, considering how old characters were being killed off in this trilogy I wasn't surprised when it seemed like Chewie got killed.

The entire ST can be summed up by directors wanting to have dramatic moments but not wanting to deal with the consequences of those dramatic moments

I was like wow, this is the first time I have been surprised since the Kylo unmasking in 2015. And I totally liked it.

But no, that had to just be a fakeout.

it most certainly was in the leaked plot. and was one of the more major talking points because didn't know if it was definitely true or not.

I remembered there being two cargo ships when they showed Chewie being taken in and assumed he was on the other one.

Then I thought "what if that's what they WANT me to think and he legitimately just died?"

Then yeah, four minutes later he was alive.

The fakeout would've been a lot better if it lasted like 20-30 minutes. Don't even do the whole "we captured a valuable prisoner" part, just have Rey sense his presence when they got on the ship.

They openly admit they've been writing out of their ass the entire time. There is clearly no pathway between the movies that shows any sense of forethought about where the saga is supposed to go.

The next series (which apparently is poised to be more like the MCU?) will focus on the "High Republic", which is an era 400 years before the Skywalker Saga (but not as far back as, say, Knights of the Old Republic).

Apparently a not-old Yoda will show up.

That was a concept they wanted to do, but decided it was too dark and skipped.

Kevin Feige also wanted to do a scene in IW where Dr. Strange was supposed to do that astral projection thing the Ancient One does, on Thanos. That was supposed to send him in front of the Living Tribunal to be judged.
