Yeah, some SAM operator panicked in a tense situation and ended up murdering civilians. It's good that Iran has admitted that this happened. There's really nothing to be done about it: it was an accident. The least Iran can do is acknowledge fault, apologize, and compensate the effected families as best as it can.

Yeah I mean I dunno where else to go from here

It was a very tense few days, a lot of shit was going on, and someone fucked up.

Acknowledge it, apologize for it, and get the victim's families some compensation. Not much else to be done.

I have no idea why they went so hard on denying it. Like 3 top level officials flat out said it was impossible almost immediately and even after video footage came out they still tried to act like could never have happened. I'm glad they apologized but it's a bit too little too late.

Well, I would imagine they would want to make sure it was them, and they likely wanted to wait for tensions to die down a bit. They had no idea if they were about to be invaded or what, and they likely wouldnt want to add fuel to the fire

Sure. but they used phrases like "scientifically impossible" and accused people suggesting it of rubbing salt into the wounds of the dead and politicizing the tragedy. It was... aggressive. A simple "let's wait to see what the facts say" would have been totally acceptable.

Trump has effectively won the election with this, Liberals now look like terrorist sympathizers for going to bat for Iran so hard once more Plisoi crumbled and will be sending the articles of impeachment in next week where Mcconnel and republicans will kill it dead and as a result Trump will now get to brag that he beat not only the muellar investigation but also impeachment which in tern will make the dems lose face and hope with their supporters and even worse for them Biden will get the nomination, it's all set in stone and once he starts talking Trump will hammer him on his voting for the Iraq war and his other spotty voting records and Obama era policies like the Iran deal, giving back Iran's money and other things, the death blow will be when Republicans start their investigations into Hunter Biden like we all know they will.

This is so bad Democrats stand to lose Congress as well and Republicans grow even stronger in the senate, the only way this could be a pure nightmare is if somehow someone managed to convince that supreme court justice to step down under the guise that she gets to name her successor and then completely Garland them and put another corporist stooge up there for the next 3 decades, we very well may become a country of Hard Right and Center Right in the coming years

Democrats are fucked because they are both incompetent and because the public are way easy to sway against them. That simple enough for you? We're heading towards nearly 50 years of Republican rule throughout the country, the courts will belong to them and with them already believing the law doesn't apply to them they now have the means to make that legal and then some. No need for a dictatorship when the power is in your hands already trump is a dame golden goose for them.

People returning from holidays and other things. That route (Toronto -> Kyiv -> Tehran and back) is the most popular one for Canadians because it's the easiest/cheapest.
