you can get great sammys on a hero for $5 pretty much at any local deli

Actually, a hero at my local Brooklyn deli is about $7 now. It used to be $4.50 in the 90s.

It was awesome in the past, but they stopped having pastrami so I stopped going. I loved the shredded lettuce.

The deli local to my workplace on the Upper East Side was $9.95 for a sandwich.

You people are missing the whole point, NOTHING, NOT EARNINGS, NOT CASH FLOW, NOT ANYTHING MATTERS. What matters is how much liquidity the FEDiots continue to pump into the market..Its up to close to 100 Billion per day, it was a year ago December that the FEDiots tried to cut back. Markets laid a big brown smelly on Jay Bowell's face. Since then its pump pump pump and it will be pump pump pump until the FEDiots have bought everything. Chopper Benny b said in 2000 or so that that is exactly what they will do in the end. Jay Bowell thinks it's good that the unemployment rate is 3% and the terminally unemployed are getting jobs. I don't. I have to work with these idiots they were unemployed for a reason. As long as Jay Bowell keeps the 3 month T-bill below 2% your footlong is going to continue to increase in price and get smaller, thank you.

Are you sure?

Those "$5 footlong" commercials were a boldfaced lie.
They weren't, tho? I used to get a footlong Meatball Marinara for $5 and I think they're only like 6 now.

After they got rid of their $5 foot long sandwiches I stopped going. If Im gonna pay more than $5 I can get something a hell of a lot better than subway.

It's just like that now. Not sure where you guys live, but a large Double Quarter Pounder combo at McDonald's here in California will run you over $10. Same thing at Carl's Jr; large Double Bacon Western combo is over $10.

disagree. I can get a $5 meal from Carls Jr. that includes a soda and cookie .

but again you live in California, higher cost of living. I sure as fuck wouldnt pay $10 for McDonalds but maybe thats considered cheap over there

And they still have a couple $5 footlongs too.

No it's not about that, it's about how a "footlong" was one of a specific set of 12" sandwiches.
Yeah the commercials would say "ANY ANY ANY" footlong and then in fine print say "any regular footlong" and the "regular footlongs" were plain turkey, ham & cheese, or veggies (not the veggie Patty, like just whatever veggies they had on their toppings choices for other sandwiches)

Define "a few years back". Cause you couldn't have gotten a footlong tuna for that price in 2011 and that was 9 years ag

4-5 years ago they had the promotion for 5$ subs. not sure about the price of a tuna but meatball used to be around 5.25$ at most.

uhhhh.... no. when they had the "5 dollar footlong" promotion with the commercials like that, it was literally for any and every footlong they had. there wasn't a specific subset of 12" subs that were called footlongs. 12' and a foot are the same thing. you're probably just thinking of after they already dropped the 5 dollar any footlong promotion and had different price points for different subs, 5 dollars being the price point for the more basic subs. the 5 dollar any footlong promotion, when they had it, was 5 dollars for any footlong.

No. Every single time they ran that promo if I tried to get a meatball sub or sweet onion teriyaki chicken it was never $5. It was a very specific short list of subs.

every 12" sub qualified when they were running the 5 dollar any footlong promotion

they had a specific 5 dollar menu after that promotion ended that just had a handful of basic subs

these were two different promotions that you guys are conflating

You are just fucking wrong and here's proof:

Look at the bottom, "Offer excludes premium subs"

it depends on the franchisee. when they had the 5$ footlong promotion when it supposed to have any choice the franchisee put the list of subs that validates the promotion price (couldn't get chicken bacon ranch or seafood) plus plenty others. just the basic meatball, turkey, ham and cold cut combo.

you are mixing up the promotion in the second quot from 2018 with the earlier promotion in the first quote.
Impossible as I haven't been to Subway since 2016. I'm wrong about the meatball sub specially but the commercial very clearly excluded the higher priced sandwiches from the promo.

it says it excludes double-stacked (which is basically just extra meat, which obviously is going to cost extra) and premium subs. i only remember there being one premium sub at the time of the 5 dollar footlong promotion, and that was the cheesesteak. they might have added more later, but it definitely wasn't only a select handful of subs that qualified. it was almost their entire menu.

It was once explained to me that if they have to cook it (and by cook I mean put it already made in the oven) then it was a premium sub. There was some bacon ranch melt once upon a time that had the same deal. I recall the sweet onion teriyaki chicken also being on the list of premium subs but my memory isn't all that great.

What I do remember is arguing with the cashiers about the stupid ass promo not properly notating which subs were not included.

You also could in a way get a $5 footlong double stacked, they just started at $5 and added the normal surcharge.

Well the fault isn't the menu, it's the commercial putting that shit in fine print for a few seconds while screaming "ANY ANY ANY" at you so I go to Subway thinking "any" only to have the fine print pointed out at me after I've already had the sandwich made.

I must not have been the only one with that issue since they later added $5 stickers to various menu items around here.

I've since thrown up twice from eating at subways, different ones at different times, late 90s and early 2010s so I'm done with the place in general.
