Heya. I will be going to the US during June-July and i have always been curious about the tipping culture over there.

From what i've heard its not something mandatory but it is something almost all people do... So what exactly happens when you dont TIP in the US? Im not a stingy person or anything like that so i expect to follow the tipping culture over there but i wonder if i could get away with not tipping like once or twice?

I assume i could just do it on an occasional one-time-visit restaurant but what would happen if i dont tip in a place that i will go at least 2 or 3 times during my stay there? Assuming the waitress remembers me as the "non-tipping guy" will i get a worse treatment for it next time i go there? Im curious about that.

Nothing really. The server might have a quick moment away from the customers where
they are like "wtf no tip?" But that is about it.

Anyone who noticed would probably talk about you. Probably would call you an asshole to their friends. That's about it. No one would confront you or anything.

Nothing will happen, you can get away with it as many times as you want. It's just kind of a letdown for the waiter/waitress.

The only thing that could possibly happen is like you said, if you do it somewhere, then go back and get the same waiter, they might give you worse service.

In this situation, they would absolutely fuck with your food. If you plan on going back somewhere, you absolutely have to tip.

It's amazing that you're spending all this money to travel to the US, but you're trying to get out of throwing in a few extra bucks after your meal.

Most people say you need to tip regardless of the service and would think of you as a total scumbag if you don't. I am not so extreme, I say if you weren't satisfied, they don't deserve the extra money. But to be planning ahead of time to not tip, you're way off base.

At worst you might get asked by a server what they did wrong to deserve no tip, but I wouldn't go back to the same place twice if you're gonna skip tipping. That's a formula for bad service and/or spit in your food.

Watch the movie "Waiting". They never forget a face. I'd recommend you don't go back to the same place twice.
